Joe Miller Moneybomb
— Ace

His pitch:

This year's Republican primary in Alaska has come down to a fight between the establishment and the conservative grassroots. Unfortunately, Joe Miller and his homegrown base of conservative Alaskans are facing legal battles with well-funded special interests committed to maintaining the status quo in Washington.

With your support, Joe can continue his momentum; stave off the inevitable lawsuits, and cross the finish line with another victory for the conservative movement. Please donate 50, 75, or 100 dollars to preserve the integrity of Alaska's electoral system and ensure that the true conservative is on the ballot in November.

3 Today's the big day.  Of course, given Alaska time we probably won't know until late.

I think the moneybomb is a bit premature, since there've been no decision about the victor in the primary.  Does Joe intend to fight for the nomination if Murkowski edges him out?

Or is this a preemptive fund-raiser for the campaign?

Speaking of which, lawsuits and expenses over a Primary.

This is the very definition of a Solomon's Choice.  Ask Murkowski and Miller if they'll abide by the official results - the one that says "yes" gets the nomination.

Damn, this would REALLY piss off the NRSC.  I'm in, at least for $50.  Rent week and all that.

6 Ace, you must have started something.  Site is over loaded and won't load donation.

7 Just took it after three attempts.  Not a good way to start a money bomb.

8 I'll donate $5 bucks so he can get a shave..

Sorry.. the primary is done.  Let the elections commission in Alaska do its job.  If Miller turns out to be the winner, as we all hope, then I'll consider donating.

And, let's hope he doesn't wear that outfit to DC.

Barney might be all over him.

A moneybomb to hire lawyers to contest a primary? Seriously, it's come to this?

Just when you think the GOP gets it's shit together, they gotta pull crap like this.

How about Alaska just counts all the damn votes and we go from there?  Or rock, paper scissors?  2 out of 3 falls Texas Cage Match.

(Murkowski should concede)

(Miller needs to shave, it's Alaska dammit, not 1980's Miami Vice)

If you send $200, you get an ulu.  For $500, you get your own float at Fur Rondy.  Send up your entire APFD, you get a duct tape life size statue of Joe Miller slaying the minotaur.

12 The site come up with a 'we're fixing something' message now.

On a side note, it says it's SSL but that doesn't show in my web browsers (both FF and IE).  Shouldn't that show in the browser before you submit, not after?  I mean anyone can say their site is SSL before you submit, but that's no guarantee it will be.  I don't want to find out it isn't after I send personal info.

17 According to the Alaska paper (Anchorage Daily News) they are only expected to count 15,000 of the 25,000 outstanding ballots today/tonight. Save everyone a lot of trouble if they could just get it all done in one day. I hate this election purgatory we keep finding ourselves in. Oh, the same paper mentioned that 500 votes didn't get counted because the staffers hadn't put the right "card" in their computer. Automation of elections was a huge step backward for our electoral process.

Yeah, this is my initial reaction too.

First of all, he is vague about what the money is for.  "Special interest groups" trying to maintain the "status-quo in Washington"?  He kind of infers that the money is going to battle Murkowski, but he doesn't actually say that.  He could just be talking about a general election fund to win his seat.  Give him money to "preserve the integrity of Alaska's electoral system"?  WTF?  Who wrote that for him?  Whoever did should be fired for using way too many political weasel words.

Is he just taking advantage of the conservative base's anger and disgust at Murkowski to make some money for his campaign?

If so... is his (general election) campaign really the best place to spend money?  His Democrat rival doesn't really seem to have a prayer.

Maybe before he holds office. But those lawsuits were Palin's excuse for leaving office prematurely.

28 Donations to Joe Miller can be directed by Joe Miller to other campaigns.  If he's the nominee donating to him is not a lost cause.  See Barack Obama for Senate in 2004 or Chuck Schumer's campaign slush fund in NY.

FYI: I'm not donating until the site is secure.  It's not secure right now despite saying it is secured with SSL.

Posted by: wtfci at August 31, 2010 07:49 AM (R4rMI)

29 Doh.  Looks like Joe Miller has Karl Rove acolytes running his website and they've failed to secure the donation page.  Come on guys.  I guess these guys failed one of Rove's jedi tests.

30 13 When do we get to unseat John Cornyn?

I submit it is Mitch McConnell who is the cancer who will cripple republicans once they take back the House, maybe the Senate.

He is as weak a leader as The Dingy One. He will, God forbid it happens, be our undoing in taking Obama out in 2012.

Mark it.

What say you ACE?

31 Alaska's counting some absentees, early and questioned votes today.  They just started to report new numbers.  Miller won the first group of about 2,800 votes 52%-48%.  His lead is up to 1,775.

Posted by: cinyc at August 31, 2010 10:10 AM (GQdQu)

32 Correction - I transposed a digit.  Miller's lead FELL to 1325.  He lost the first set 57-43.
