Jesse MacBeth: "A Right Wing Psyop"
— Ace

That's the claim from some on the hard left.

Mudville Gazette notes Jesse was brought to us by a Vietnam-era "peace activist" and military resistor. Heck of a deep-cover psyop, Greyhawk notes.

1 Karl Rove did it.

2 Why can't they ever say "my bad, sorry, go about your business"

An excercise in arrogance and stupidity becomes a conspiracy, and they do themselves even more damage than has already been done.

3 and the rest of the left just claims he was a straw man hyped up by the right wingers so they could burn him down.
can't this story die already? this guy has gotten way too much attention

4 He was a setup for sure.

IVAW has obviously been penetrated by Rove operatives at the highest levels.

What other explanation is there? That this guy is really this stupid and inept and came up with this plan all on his own? Seriously, there's a better chance of seeing Elvis at a 7-11.

5 Memo to self: buy stock in Reynold's Wrap.

It takes darn near a full roll of that stuff to make a decent helmet. Not to mention the amount it takes to line your britches, to avoid Rove's Neuter-ray.

These people are whacked.

7 Okay, let's say Karl Rove personally planted Jesse MacBeth. What do the Republicans actually gain from this sorry little exercise?

Making the anti-war left look a little silly? Not like thats much of a trick

Widespread repudiation of the far-left position? Does anyone outside our little circle of politically obsessed dweebs actually know what the whole MacBeth thingie-ma-jiggie even was?

A brief flash of joy in the dead, cold heart of Dick Cheney? He's got bigger things to worry about, like preparing for the Neo-Con/Halliburton take over of the world/killing of the polar bears to worry about.

I mean seriously? Why would Karl Rove or anyone on the right go through so much effort for so little gain? That's what I want to know.

10 Fuck I'm good.
