— Ace When I say "remade," I mean remade with a new but similar script, not recreated. The "plot" of this short follows the very basics of The Thing's plot, but only in broadest outline. Don't expect shot-for-shot fidelity, or, like me, you'll start wondering where the hell the Swedes are, and when the dog is going to start acting funny.
And why MacReady is suddenly a redhead.
Starts off a mite slow, and the music just gets more and more annoying (you might want to turn it down after a minute), but it is a lot of fun to look at. Great sets. And the monster actually looks kinda scary, too.
Thanks to Dr. Reo Symes.

I read where some guy posted that when he was a kid and after he had found a book on sex, he would take his sister's Barbie dolls and give them as gifts to his G.I. Joes as rewards for bravery in battle. lol!

Who has time for that? How do you get paid making these things?
It's great fun and all but how do you justify the huge piece of your life that's missing because you spent it posing G.I. Joes?

After watching it a couple more times, this short looks like a composite of "The Thing" by Carpenter and the original "Who Goes There?" from the 50's.
The characters in the short look like the ones from The Thing, whereas the 50's version had a mix of military and civilians (a lot more people) working in the antarctic lab. The modern version's alien came from the infected dog that the ice-wops were trying to kill, compared to the "blob" that comes out of the ice core sample from the short. This is more in line with the original version where they find the alien frozen in a block of ice and it thaws out. The ending, however, is all John Carpenter where MacReady and Childs are the last survivors and mutually agree to detonate themselves along with the base in order to kill the alien.
I would have liked to see the scene where they do the blood test to see which one of them is the alien.

-I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!
