The River on ABC, 9:00 Eastern
— rdbrewer

Have you guys seen this show? It's a paranormal thriller from Oren Peli, the guy behind Paranormal Activity. It's also a Steven Spielberg project. Good show. I saw the premiere. Bruce Greenwood--Captain Pike from the last Trek movie--plays a wildlife show host and father, Dr. Emmet Cole, who has disappeared in the jungle while filming his show. His family and some videographers set out to find him. The thing is, while searching for Dr. Cole, they're also filming a new show.

Dr. Cole left behind clues in the form of raw video that his family found on his boat after a long search in the premiere.

It's cool. Paranormal stuff. Monsters. Ghosts. Lots of tension and scary moments. Cool characters. Smart writing. Can't ask for much more than that.

Occutards are dropped into the Amazon, on a leaky boat, armed only with drums and flutes.

40 (CNSNews.com) – President Obama claimed that unions such as the United Auto Workers were not a “special interest” saying that being in a union was not a “bad thing.” However, unions are among some of the largest special interests in the country. “They’re out there. They’re out there talking about you like your some special interest that needs to be beaten down,” Obama said at the UAW’s National Community Action Program Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. “Since when are hard-working men and women who are putting in a hard day’s work every day, since when are they special interests?”

115 He is so negative.

This is the first broadcast network show I've watched since, like, um... s'been a while.

116 Family sets out to find him in the jungle -- great, it's "Land of the Lost." Maybe we get to see some Sleestaks.

117 Is this thread slow because there's a flame war in the primary thread?

That's my default guess unless it's late at night.

118 I refuse to argue. (Just try and make me, sucker!) How about a nice game of chess, logprof?

119 And yes, from the few episodes I've seen of it, I want Team Amazon to win.

121 You're out of your mind, Adriane.

122 TV has become unwatchable for those who are not masochists.

123

I've been catching the episodes on OnDemand.....since I kinda hate ABC and don't watch that channel. ....So I didn't catch tonight's episode.

.....

The hired gun security guy is an interesting character. He seems to be working for someone else, whoever he was talking to on the phone. ....And he seems to know what "the source" is.

.....

Seems to be something going on with the blue dragonflies. They swarmed the search party when they first headed up the tributary that they've been going up. ....And then there was that one that flew into the mouth of the girl, which immediately seemed to be posessed with the spirit of Dr. Emmet Cole.

.....

So far, it's not too bad. I'll probably keep watching.

124 Take a clip from all of the B- movies, Weird dolls, zombies, bloodsucking monsters, et all. I watched the first episode, then watched the next hour. Not again, it is a looser.

125 rdbrewer,

Are you serious?

I couldn't make it through the first episode.

I had lost interest and it was playing in the background, and then the 2nd episode commenced.

Had to shut it down.  Could not take anymore of that paranormal tension.

126 "Cool characters. Smart writing."

Then it's destined to be doomed.

ABC Exec: "Is there anyway we can have Snooki and The Situation make a cameo?"

127 Not what I saw. I tried to watch the whole premier and kept falling asleep because it was sooo boring and predictable besides being not scary in any way, shape or form. Sorry but its lame. PA was crap too in my book so Im not on the same page as all you easily spooked folks I guess.

128 The problem is, I don't have a problem with any of the characters dying. And a seer? Seriously? Way to take the easy way out...

Posted by: rlewis at February 29, 2012 12:46 AM (Vxitv)

129 The show is horrible. I watched a couple of episodes last night. Hey lets watch emmets videos so we can tell where he is. It is the amazon...everything looks like everything else...especially if you have NEVER been to that part of the amazon. Hey someone got killed. One comment about it...everyone else is like..hey Bob...pass the creamer. Hey that ghost...yeah it wants her mom...we just figured that out. mom is probably in the graveyard... You can make a paranormal type series and I am predisposed to liking them...but make the plot more realistic in terms of how they act, what they do, etc. Horrible. Horrible.

130 The River is,
1. The Walking dead in a jungle with no zombies but is filled with the stupids who despite their best efforts to get killed or "trapped forever on this river" do not.
2. It's Lost without Hurley and most missed of all Kate and her freckles.
3. "Where's the beach?"

Posted by: HEP-T at February 29, 2012 08:49 AM (tGH2B)

131 I'm going to start banning people who don't like The River.
