Hoisting The Black Flag, For The Last Time?
— Ace

Not sure how it's going to work when Karol and I are in different cities.

Click on the pic at 4PM Eastern Time.

Our show's very first guest may be our last guest. Kind of a bookend sort of deal.

Michelle Malkin will discuss her latest book, Unhinged: Exposing Liberals Gone Wild. It's a funny book, but frequently infuriating. I guarantee you that if Republican operatives had slashed the tires of twenty rented vans for a Democratic get-out-the-vote operation, it would have resulted in criminal charges and a Congressional investigation. Of course, when Democrats do this to Republicans, it barely registers.

We're the party of hate, after all.

And as if that's not enough show, we'll then have on Jim Geraghty of TKS on NRO, who, for reasons unfathomable to me, moved to Turkey, and is doing us a great favor in staying up 'till 12 to talk to us. (National Review types are all in bed by 10 pm sharp, usually, judging by Corner entries.)

2 I'm still in NYC. I'm moving to Boston.

3 You liked Kennedy's speech that much, eh Ace?

4 Beantown, eh? Good luck with the transplant. . .

Cheers,

8 Should have told me ace. I could have rented you a sweet place in Back Bay with parking. For you, suck a deal I would have made!

12 I'm moving to Boston.

WHY????? Icky liberals, icky liberals, you'll be surrounded by moonbats. Go back!

Hey, I have an idea. One of you can do the show solo.

15 For you, suck a deal I would have made!

Hmm. I guess this means that when Ace can't come up with the rent, alternative forms of payment can be arranged.

Your thinking South End. Has a neighborhood ever been more appropriately named?

Posted by: JackStraw at January 31, 2006 10:01 AM (J8+2b)

17 That's fine, Jack. But you're going to see Bareback Mountin' II with Ace, not me.

Posted by: Bart at January 31, 2006 10:03 AM (5A9lu)

18 Maybe Howie Carr has room for a co-host.

Posted by: Slublog at January 31, 2006 10:06 AM (R8+nJ)

19 I liked Boston. But a lot of radio shows can be done with hosts in different rooms or states.

Its weird, though, how political it is. Not explicitly "oh, I am a lefty," but "vote for tom morenello for Cat Catcher, 3rd Ward." It seems like the party machine is still in play there. Everyone is running for something.

Posted by: joeindc44 at January 31, 2006 10:06 AM (8TcCs)

20 Joe-

Having lived most of my life in and around Boston I can assure you that there is no place in America where politics is more important on both a local and national level. And yes, the party machine is very much alive and well. Its never dull.

Posted by: JackStraw at January 31, 2006 10:11 AM (J8+2b)

21 A machine is the only way to explain the continued tenure of Mumbles.

Posted by: Slublog at January 31, 2006 10:12 AM (R8+nJ)

22 Seriously, Ace. Now's not the time to give up the show. You were getting better and better and the show more professional, except for all the dead air last week. But, besides, that, you were sounding real good.

Posted by: shawn at January 31, 2006 10:13 AM (D90f7)

23 Seriously. Is Ace a fecking knucklehead?

In the year 2006, with all this technology at one's fingertips, Ace and Karol can't negotiate an internet broadcast from different locations.

Posted by: Bart at January 31, 2006 10:14 AM (XMWwm)

24 I don't think Ace and Karol are a high budget production.

Posted by: shawn at January 31, 2006 10:18 AM (D90f7)

25 Goldstein and Ardolino did it.

Albeit, for a short time.

26 Michelle is awesome. I'm really looking forward to today's show.

Posted by: Bart at January 31, 2006 10:24 AM (XMWwm)

27 I hope today's show will address today's pressing issue of WHERE THE HELL IS ALLAH?

31 Yep, Ace. The strategic arm of the Democratic party is just like the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

[the Black Knight continues to threaten Arthur despite getting both his arms and one of his legs cut off]
Black Knight: Right, I'll do you for that!
King Arthur: You'll what?
Black Knight: Come here!
King Arthur: What are you gonna do, bleed on me?
Black Knight: I'm invincible!
King Arthur: ...You're a loony.

Posted by: JackStraw at January 31, 2006 11:19 AM (J8+2b)

34 Yep, Karol. Those Dem idiots think they can win using Larry Flynt style tactics.

(This is fun injecting myself into the show with Ace and Karol.)

Posted by: Bart at January 31, 2006 11:23 AM (GgEul)

35 Hey, Boston? Look for Whitey Bulger on your way in. I hear they're looking for him.

You'll love Howie Carr.

And, best of all, you'll be close enough for an Ace of Spades bluefish trip this summer. I'll pay for the gas. Learn how to get to Westerly, RI, and bring a couple of east coast Acers with ya.

Listening to the show now, by the way.

If you ever make your way over to Newport we could include a few stripers.

40 Now isn't Ace sounding really really relaxed these days?

Posted by: shawn at January 31, 2006 11:43 AM (D90f7)

41 JackStraw,
I've been fishing from Plum Gut to Watch Hill, and Southwest ledge off Block for 35 years. Never caught a single striper 'till about three years ago. What a great fish! Pound for pound, though, the blues still are the best for the fight. The exception? Bonito, if you can get the durn things to hook up.

Shall we count you in for the Ace of Spades fishing derby? I have a 25 Grady White Sailfish. Ought to be good for 4-5, anyway.

45 Tom, I remember back in the early '80's when I was 12 or 13 years old, there was a sighting of a great white shark off of Block Island. It was a big deal back then.

Yes. Yes, he is. Ever since he went to see Bareback Mountain with Allah as a matter of fact.

And, unless I'm imagining things, he also made an off-hand remark not long ago about having a girlfriend.

I don't know. I don't like it, ya know? I don't like it one bit. Sure, I wish Ace well, in theory, but in practice his "brand name" says miserable, lonely, dorky, and drunk. I don't think he should pull the rug out from under his loyal fans like that. It's bad marketing. It does not make economic sense.

Ace, rock bottom called. It misses you.

Yeah, about 12 hours ago. You guys all want to come across as studs. But the moment women start talking about wrestling nude over you, you get all nervous and go running to your girlfriends.

Posted by: shawn at January 31, 2006 12:04 PM (D90f7)

51 Why would a conservative man move to Boston? Why? Why? Why?

I was beginning to feel too accepted in right-wing NYC. I needed a challenge.

'Sides, I went to law school there.

Yep, that anonymity thing is slipping by the moment.

We had a few years where there always seemed to be a whale carcass or two floating in BI sound. I saw a huge bull shark on the way in one year (at least the Coast Guard told me it was probably one, as I did not care to stick around a fish longer than half my boat in six foot seas).

You're in. We have to find out if Ace is the, um, green type on the water, though. If it is stripers it may have to be early, yes? Blues would be after mid-July. Could do some flounder if you actually want flavor. The pink house off Misquamicut always worked well.

Posted by: shawn at January 31, 2006 12:33 PM (D90f7)

61 Yep, that anonymity thing is slipping by the moment.

I would find it hard to keep up. Even trolling here, I've been tempted in conversations to reveal infomation which, taken all together, could easily be used to identify me. If I had invested all the time and energy into a blog and the creation of a cyberspace "community", I don't know if I could do it. Although maintaining anonymity really is a good idea, if you can hack it. The fact that somebody can recall the fact that you once made an off-color joke is quite different from somebody being able to email your boss a specific link. The record of all the conversations we've had on this moronblog may last forever, which is a sobering thought. (Of course, all thoughts are sobering thoughts for me right now, since, alas, I am in fact stone cold sober. And I curse my corporate masters for that.)

Posted by: sandy burger at January 31, 2006 12:57 PM (rGBYl)

62 Now if Ace was really all intent on landing the big striper he'll stay put. The striper spawning run up the Hudson River from April to early May is phenomenal. The record is 71 lbs. my best. a 42 lb in 2001. After that. you can fish them in the sound and off the coasts of LI and NJ practically all year. Now if you guys want some serious Striper fishing......

Posted by: ShochAnAww at January 31, 2006 01:02 PM (1Usmd)

63 Shit. I read that as "landing the big stripper."

No potheads, no drunks, no old men. Literacy and intelligence a plus. No big fat slobs. Lawyers are ok though oddly enough. Around the age of 26 please.

Not a pothead, though I drink and probably qualify as an old man.

With a list like that, you're in for a rough time.
