3 8.7

I deducted a few points for the dismount.  Didn't even try to stick the landing.

4 So awesome! I swear though that the reporter is almost chipper as he says the police are in no mood for shenanigans. I don't think our press would ever be as pleased to report the story.

Posted by: Jahiliyya at February 29, 2008 03:44 PM (CnXZn)

5 It hurts to see a perfectly good bike get trashed like that.

Posted by: Michael at February 29, 2008 03:44 PM (GBak4)

6 Perhaps the Spanish are not in the mood to be called Andelus again!  It is possible that Europussies are starting to grow pairs in some instances.  Let's hope!

What's so awesome about that? He's still alive. He wasn't even knocked out and sat up right away. If he really had a grenade, he could have pulled it when the cops approached and injured/killed them.  Me, I would have strung a wire across the road and pulled it, thereby decapitating him.

Posted by: Rinnie at February 29, 2008 03:54 PM (GuQpe)

8 I like the piano-wire across the street alternative, I guess they didn't want to clean up the mess

Posted by: Frank G at February 29, 2008 03:57 PM (Ydps9)

9 They could have just shot the asshole and spared the bike.

Posted by: Michael at February 29, 2008 04:00 PM (GBak4)

10 >>>They could have just shot the asshole and spared the bike.

This is more cinematic.  I approve.  I don't care about the law enforcement doctrine, I want the spectacular wipe.

11 A new way to "make my day".

12 Note to self:  use sidewalks in the future for motorcycle escape from bank robberies.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at February 29, 2008 04:07 PM (5hXBq)

The more interesting aspect is, how will they blame this on the U.S?

Posted by: Rinnie at February 29, 2008 04:07 PM (GuQpe)

14 That was fucking awesome.
I'll bet he's got a serious concussion and some broken bits.

Posted by: Nom de Blog at February 29, 2008 04:12 PM (5/uG4)

15 I believe that is several years old. I recall seeing it on Ebaums or breakdotcom or whatever.

That is some quality commenting there, my friends.

18 Don't bring a hand grenade to a car fight.

"After recent terrorist attacks..."

What a minute - you mean the country that appeased bin Laden in an election has had terrorist attacks since that appeasement? How is that possible?

20 Speaking of thieves:

I went to my bank after work today, but was stopped by a sign on the door that simply read: Closed Due To Robbery, with no further explanation. Weird.

I don't think to Portland police were as wicked super kickass as these Spanish cops, though. I didn't note any shattered getaway car parts or bandit corpses strewn about.

Posted by: Andrew at February 29, 2008 05:01 PM (u5kpU)

What to hear a funny story? My stepdad's son, Greg went to the bank not to long ago and as he drove in he noticed that all the blinds were down. A man was standing outside with a bag at his feet. Greg drove by him and rolled down his  window and asked what was going on. the man said "I just robbed this banK and we are waiting on the police." well Greg quickly left and found out  later on TV that the guy robbed the bank because he had heard it was a federal offense and thought he would go to federal prison, which is pretty nice compared to the homelessness he had been experiencing. Turns out he was wrong about the federal prison thing. heh.

22 I ride a bike and that has gotta hurt, but he was not looking where he was going, he MIGHT have been able to dodge the car, but no he plowed right into it like he was daydreamin' or something

There is a real simple principle to be applied here, mi amigos.

If the perp lives, repeats will occur.

If he does not, there will be none.

Es simplicidad, no?

25 THAT WILL LEAVE A MARK (or two or three)...

Posted by: Eeyore's Swinging Sack at February 29, 2008 06:34 PM (I6QiV)

26 Well, if he had a grenade you'd think that would detonate it.

28 Sorta like the Spanish equivalent of Super Dave Osborne, 'ceptin Dave always managed to eat the backboard of the basketball hoop, not the car hood. "OOohh!, you know he's going to feel *that* in the morning!"

29 Dude could have asked for a truck.

But no, had to go for the cool bike.

Course, if he were smart he could make money a lot more easily than robbing people.

Posted by: Gohuckyourself at February 29, 2008 10:26 PM (8jYMc)

30 That was pretty sweet.

If we tried that in the States though, the lawyers would be lined up sue for him before he hit the ground.

31 Is CBS news recycling old videos from the internet?  This site http://bikerpunks.com/ had this video a year or two ago.

Posted by: Ken at March 01, 2008 03:31 AM (HXrqY)

32 Bad guy thought he'd zoom-zoom Speedracer style, but he boom-boomed ass-hat stype. And yeah, in the USA or Canada even the lawyers would have lined the streets waiting for a legal action accident to occure.

Posted by: 5Cats at March 01, 2008 05:07 AM (Knaf0)

33 Dumb-ass cops. They didn't have to give him a full fuel tank. Just enough to get going down the street. On the other hand, when they give him the beating he so richly deserves, it can be chalked up to the landing on the pavement...

Don't bring a hand grenade to a car fight.

I am afraid I agree that that move would have made the perp a multi-millionaire in this country.

The video was great however I would have liked to see the use of an unmarked police steamroller once the guy was on the ground.
