Fox Breaking: 50+ Catholic Parishoners Held Hostage in Church in Iraq By Al Qaeda Gunmen

That's all that's been reported so far. I think the end of the combat mission in Iraq isn't quite as ended as advertised.

While historically the Turkish people were pro-American and pro-Israel, the government is Islamic and on its way to being another Iranian theocracy. The bomber(s) was/were probably Kurdish, who have been horrifically persecuted by the Turks. It seems as if they were targeting the police, but I don't condone what they did at all. Innocent people, as well as many tourists go through Taksim Square and that was where we stayed, literally 2 blocks away, last June. Fuck Turkey. Fuck Islam. Pray for the innocent people.

Even Benedict has stronger words where the Muzzies are concerned than most of the parish priests. They tend to go full retard on the non-violence stance. I was attending a Catholic University during 9/11 and it was cringeworthy.

In Houston, we had a mix. Saint Anne's near Montrose had a smarmy illegal-immigrant booster as priest.

GWB made a big speech about the importance of churches and the work they were doing at a cost far less than the federal government.  This administration doesn't seem to appreciate the work of the churches in social and health related matters, so they are pushing taxing churches, taking away their tax exempt status.  With the economy the way it is, donations down, particularly in the Catholic church where attendance is down and people are still angry about the whole pedophile mess, if they lose their tax exempt status it will really hurt.  And, once again, who will suffer?  the poor and those who cannot help themselves.  The nuns aren't stupid, they are trying to "play ball" to keep themselves alive.

Oh, Lacey, come on home. The Church isn't what those poncho-clad ladies told you it was. The Latin Mass is back, the Pope is, in fact, Catholic again, and we are in the process of reclaiming the whole Church from those who marched it nearly to the gates of hell.

It's not about a good parish, it's about all of them becoming good, one at at time.

93 "Sinners" bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki only in that we are ALL sinners.  For a priest to suggest that he knows Gd holds the bombing of those cities as more particularly sinful than other such actions isn't just wrong, isn't just bad theology, it's damned close to heresy.
