Fitna Back Up at LiveLeak
— Ace

What annoys me most about this is that were we dealing with any other group making death-threats against fair (if inflammatory) speech, the rest of the media would immediately all post the "offensive" material in solidarity with those who are threatened, to demonstrate that such threats will simply not work.

Even if they found the material in question beneath their normal editorial standards, they would recognize the threat to free speech generally and act accordingly. And, of course, the very fact that death-threats had been made regarding the material would instantly make it newsworthy, even if it had not been previously (in their judgment, of course).

And here? Nope. The MSM is perfectly willing to self-censor and embargo for fear of angering the wrong right people, and perfectly comfortable letting tiny companies like LiveLeak fight single-handedly for the right to free expression.

In fact, they won't even cover this... because to draw attention to the affair also draws attention, simultaneously, to their own cowardice.

1 It simply amazes me how the MSM continues to go lower - how much more contempt can they earn from me? What a bunch of hypocritical cowards.

I would guess the MSM doesn't feel the demographic they cater to will be aroused enough to increase their advertising cash flow by hosting Fitna., at least to the point of making the pecieved risks worth while. Pearl's fate is always in their mind's eye.

3 I commend LiveLeak for putting it back up and for taking the necessary steps to protect its staff. I do hope that some of those who were so vituperative towards LiveLeak for pulling the video in the first place will now acknowledge that it is back up.

4 This is not only cowardice, Ace, but abject cowardice combined with the MSM's favorite crime, hypocrisy. Their failure to cover their own failings is matched by their drive to cover their own asses.

5 Awesome.

These guys are like a new day mini-rushdie...or something. I'm glad to see Liveleak standing up and not backing down anymore to threats from people just wanting to shut people down.

6 They ought to outlaw that backward stone-age religion they call journalism.

7 "I do hope that some of those who were so vituperative towards LiveLeak for pulling the video in the first place will now acknowledge that it is back up."

To the former, I was, thinking it a marketing ploy. To the latter, I'll do you one better than mere acknowledgment: I'm enjoying my crow with relish.

Three cheers to LiveLeak. I hope I get to choke on the feathers for a long time.

Here's a good write-up on how the MSM operates - and why you should believe little of what they say:

9 Is this one of those stories where if we say the wrong thing we receive a "You can't post here ever again fucknuts" banning? I'm just sayin !

12 I still want to know the nature of the threats the Liveleak people received -- and which douchebags in the British media were responsible for them. (I can guess that they were probably along the "slay those who say islam is violent!" lines...)

I'm guessing that they revealed personal details, and someone's family was threatened, but that's just my guess.

MikeJ, be cool. Please.

Anyway I didn't think that LiveLeak was obliged to keep that film up any longer than it took to 'Torrent it and generally spread it around. As they said, they put their staff at risk, and it seems they hadn't consulted with the staff about whether they wanted to be a party to it.

It seems the staff has signed on this time, which is very brave of them.

Just as the MSMs ignored Van Gogh's murder. The "Academy" gave an Oscar to Michael Moore as an award for a "documentary" bashing America and Bush that was a tissue of lies, as well as Hitler's personal filmographer Leni Riefenstahl, while refusing to even acknowledge Van Gogh's murder.

So you can't expect the MainStreamMedia to admit their previous misdeeds by reporting on this story until the obligatory "film leads to violence" reports begin to sneak through the filters. By then the presumption of the ignorant public will be that this film was provocational because so few will have seen it.

That was the biggest problem with the censorship of the Cartoon-i-fada, as two important facts were hidden from the general public.

First, that the cartoons were tame, and displaying them would have put the "outrage" into the appropriate context.

Second, the cartoons included frauds, and those would have further exposed the phoney manufactured nature of the "outrage".

Instead now we are forced to put all of our postings regarding this latest absurdity into the context of the previously unreported misdeeds.

One question. If the hundreds of attacks by Islamofascist terror bombers are NOT representative of the "Religion of Peace" how is it we are collectively responsible for a film by a single Dutchman that illustrates the fact that hundreds of Islamofascist terror bombers are killing in the name of the "Religion of Peace"?

Michael'>">Michael Hodges makes a perfect case on how an all Islamic world will be a much better one! I, for one, will gladly don a burka if it means no *spit* Christian Capitalists reich wingers are around to foul my world.

A 100% Islamic world will not be some reich wingers paranoid fantasy. Instead it will be better for:

Public health:

The Muslim act of prayer is designed to keep worshippers fit, their joints supple and, at five times a day, their stomachs trim. The regular washing of the feet and hands required before prayers promotes public hygiene and would reduce the transmission of superbugs in London’s hospitals.

Alcohol is haram, or forbidden, to Muslims. Turning all the city’s pubs into juice bars would have a massive positive effect on public health. Forbid alcohol throughout the country, and you’d avoid all of the alcohol-related deaths and the national bill for alcohol-related crime.

‘The world is green and beautiful,’ said the prophet Muhammad, ‘and Allah has appointed you his guardian over it.’ The Islamic concept of halifa or trusteeship obliges Muslims to look after the natural world and Muhammad was one of the first ever environmentalists, advocating hima – areas where wildlife and forestry are protected. So we could expect more public parks under Islam, but halifa also applies to recycling!

Application of halal (Arabic for ‘permissable’) dietary laws across America would free us at a stroke from our addiction to junk food, and the general adoption of a south Asian diet rich in fruit juice, rice and vegetables with occasional mutton or chicken would have a drastic effect on obesity, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorders and all associated public health problems. Not eating would be important as well. The annual fasting month of Ramadan instils self-discipline, courtesy and social cohesion. And Americans would heroically benefit philosophically and physically from even a short period when we weren’t constantly ramming food into our mouths.

All of the finest art in America and England is already Islamic. Islamic influences have flourished in all areas of the arts, with novelists, comedians (Birmingham-born Shazia Mirza was an instant hit on the London circuit), and music (from rappers Mecca2Medina (LOVE "EM!) on, to the less in-your-face Yusuf Islam)

Race relations:

Under Islam all ethnicities are equal! Once you have submitted to Allah you are a Muslim!!!! It doesn’t matter what colour you are. End of story.

Kay, tell me more about the wonderful wife beating rules and the 'tolerance' towards other religions. Explain please how life is so much better once we 'submit' to Allah and women stop being able to go to male doctors, and are prosecuted for being raped, and are murdered for dating the wrong men, etc.

As for me, Bacon tastes good. Porkchops taste good.

27 Kay in Maine --

I'm with you. None of those Reich Wingers fantasies for me. Check out just some of my platform:

We demand that the state be charged with providing the opportunity for a livelihood and way of life for the citizens.

The first obligation of every citizen must be to work both spiritually and physically.

Personal enrichment through a war must be designated as a crime against the people. Therefore we demand the total confiscation of all war profits.

We demand a division of profits of all heavy industries.

We demand an expansion on a large scale of old age welfare.

We demand the creation of a healthy middle class and its conservation.

We demand a land reform suitable to our needs, provision of a law for the free expropriation of land for the purposes of public utility, abolition of taxes on land and prevention of all speculation in land.

We demand struggle without consideration against those whose activity is injurious to the general interest.

The state is to be responsible for a fundamental reconstruction of our whole national education program, to enable every capable and industrious citizen to obtain higher education and subsequently introduction into leading positions. The plans of instruction of all educational institutions are to conform with the experiences of practical life. We demand the education at the expense of the State of outstanding intellectually gifted children of poor parents without consideration of position or profession.

The State is to care for the elevating national health by protecting the mother and child, by outlawing child-labor, by the encouragement of physical fitness, by means of the legal establishment of a gymnastic and sport obligation, by the utmost support of all organizations concerned with the physical instruction of the young.

We demand legal opposition to known lies and their promulgation through the press.

You can see my entire 25 point program on Wikipedia.

In her entire idiotic, pro-submit-or-die screed, this may have been the most unintentionally hilarious episode.

I mean, who doesn't look to the Islamic world for fine works of art, literature, music, and comedy? I've got my copy of unintelligible right here, and boy is it a work of art and/or hoot!

Because I can't stand George Bush and he's having a hard time dealing with that fact! See? This person is a total loser if you ask me, but I suppose, since I'm on the winning side, this person has to go after me somehow, huh? LOL
