First Pitch, Game 4
— Dave in Texas

This is how it's done, President Awesome.

Saddened me a little to see George H.W. Bush looking a little frail, did he have hip surgery and I missed it?

Not looking so good for my Rangers in the top of the 5th, but there's still a game on.

Also, I'll never, ever forget this one.

O's horrific first pitich is one thing I actually give him a pass on.

Not his fault his shitstain 'father' made a bastard out of him.

His Commie mentors weren't too keen on America's pasttime. Too busy planning el revolucion.

3 All around good guy who truly loves his country.  Don't know about HW's health and he did look frail.  May God continue to bless and smile down upon them and their family.

Bet he can throw his golf ball back on the fairway.

If there's one thing he's mastered over the past two years it would in fact be his shanking technique.

6 The Orange One from Florida had a pretty ugly first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays game this year.  Searching for video...

7 Well Obama is a switch-hitter so he's got that going for him.

8 I didn't see it when I watched it live, but W gave a smart salute to the Marine in his dress uniform standing along the left field foul line.

God I miss a president who really does care about his country and the men and women who are dedicated to defending her!

Fidel played.  And beisbol is still kinda a big deal there.

13 A poignant reminder of what we're missing. I'm not talking about ideology or policies--just having decent people in power.

Hell, ya!

15 I could feel the angst from Obama as he made that awful throw. Ewwww. I want video of him hittin a golf ball. I bet its bad. God bless the Bush family. God bless the Obama's too. Maybe they'll see the light.

He can wail on that damn teleprompter.  No mistake.  Everything else, he's pretty much a fuckup.  And that's going easy.

19 The Arlington crowd gave them both a great reception and it was a good pitch. Also lovely to see how much Bush 43 cares about his dad. They were both smiling and laughing, too.

Posted by: Miss'80sBaby at October 31, 2010 05:15 PM (Yq+qN)

20 Damn, that was a helluva pitch.

21 I miss President Bush everyday.
That 2001 NY first pitch was classic.  I will never forget that... ever.

After all the crap GWB took as president, it makes me so proud to see my hometown area give both Bush's such a warm welcome.  Those guys (and their wives) are pure class.

I don't know if it's just the conservatives or the whole country that misses having a president that truly loves the country and shows it.  When I see clips of GWB (especially anything pertaining to 9/11) or Reagan, I get an almost physical sense of longing for a leader that loves America.  Tuesday is a great start, but I won't breathe a deep sigh of relief until Obama is out of office.

23 Could have  been that last jump Bush 41 made. Seventy-one or whatever it is is kind of late for jump school.

Well-said; couldn't agree with you more. It also makes me look back and realize I took so many things for granted.

25 Wow, the crowd's reaction was as if it was George frackin' Washington himself. What a wonderful moment for him and his father.

36 I often railed at political things both those men did as president, but, in the end, they are both good men, true Americans. That can never be questioned. I miss the olden days.

Posted by: Pug Mahon at October 31, 2010 06:51 PM (Wb1g8)

37 That was a great moment and yes it took me right back to Yankee stadium. People forget that the press actively worked against W throughout his presidency, and congress have been in deem hands since 2006. I miss having disposable income andnot having to work sixty hour weeks.

38 Yeah, I miss him!  Video clips brought tears to my eyes, again!

Posted by: AZDREAMER at October 31, 2010 07:42 PM (l4f5R)

39 Goddammit, I miss those guys. I miss having a leader who didn't treat America as if it was some kind of inherited disease he was oh-so-nobly enduring.

Even if some of his politics didn't go my way, there's no substitute for having a classy, genuine man in the White House. I hope W's post-presidential years are filled with as much steak and baseball as he could want.

Posted by: Tungsten Monk at October 31, 2010 07:48 PM (kwcvz)

40 I like how Ryan says "You want me behind the plate?" and W says "huh? yeah." And then he just chucks him the ball.

Just got this message on my second viewing of the video posted here.

Uh.... I live in the US.  Can't have Bush lookin' good before a major conservative/repub sweep?  Playin' politics here like the NFL Pac giving to bambi and pals?  What's up?

53 Hey, I don't know if you remember this, but about 3 years ago we had a bet regarding what would happen if Tom Delay was convicted or not when you used to post at rightwingsparkle's blog.  (I believe the original bet was I would work for Condalisa Rice's 2008 Presidential Campaign for a few days, or you would work for Hillary Clinton's).

Either way, the trial started today.....

Shall we update the stakes, or simply let it go?

b/t/w your a hard man to track down.
