End of the World Cancelled? Obama Begins Walking Back Dire Predictions
— Ace

...and he's doing that, of course, because when the sequester comes, and yet the sun still rises, he'll take a hit to his credibility.

15 Well also Woodward has advertently or inadvertently given the GOP enough cover that they can safely tell His Majesty King Joffrey Obama first of his name, to pound sand. So he can give Republicans a better deal than sequester, or keep the sequester. And sequester will be his fault thanks to Woodward. Look for sequester being good for the economy by early next week.

107 I know what you mean about the tiny screen. Wait till someone embeds a video on the ONT that turns it into a tiny print thread. It's the yucks. And thanks for asking on the job. I start one in the morning. It sucks but it's a job and should help me keep the house a while longer. Pre apprenticeship program as a sheet metal worker. That would be fine if I was 20. But I would be 63 by the time I make journeyman. There is a lady at a placement agency who saw my resume about another job I applied for as a machine operator who is excited about the prospect of getting me into a lab in the future so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

135 I had on Dana Loesch's delayed boradcast on my way home about an hour ago.  A black guy named Jamahl called in and he was hot,  because he said this was the biggest pile of BS he had ever heard.

He then went on a 5-minute riff about who cares about Joe Biden riding the train when he (Jamahl) is paying nearly 4 bucks a gallon to get to a job where he busts his hump every day,  which he KNOWS Obama never did being as how he is from OLD MONEY and never had to work a day in his life.

There was lots more but I was laughing plus he was talking in a really thick accent so I couldn't get all of it.  I am not a big fan of Loesch bu if you can get a rerun of her show,  that call is in the second hour.

It cheered me up that there are some people who are not being fooled.

I was behind a car in traffic today that had an "Obama / Biden" sticker and a "Jobs not Cuts" sticker.

152 Listen, it sucks that the DoD guys, who actually perform a valuable constitutional function, have to get furloughed. But I wonder if this is Obama's turning point. The cracks are showing. Many journalists are starting to see the endless scare tactics for what they are. And the Woodward thing gives journalists cover for actually pushing back. We're fighting a rearguard action until the 2014 election season. This was a costly distraction for the administration, and they have lost some of their momentum they had on immigration and guns. It's not Waterloo or Midway, but may be the Coral Sea; one stalemate to stop a long string of losses. They will overreach again, believing that they have support on guns and immigration, and we'll pick up some Senate seats as long as we turnout in 2014.

158 The NRA are the only group out there that is fighting back hard against Zero and the Dems. They are making commercials about that leaked DOJ memo (the one that says the only way for "effective gun control is confiscation) and it has the MFM in a tizzy. I heard a CBS radio Top of the Hour report where the announcer was pleading Zero's case that the memo "is not White House policy nor is it an official document", blah blah blah. So what? Use their own tactics against them.

Posted by: Damn Sockpuppet at February 28, 2013 05:36 PM (yJYwC)

159 The Obama plan is to position the Republicans as the fall guys. If the economy gets better, he can reclaim the sequester. If it tanks, he can now, with the aid of his minions in the press, blame the Republicans. He sees this as a win-win. The worst case scenario is that nothing happens. Then the Republicans can't be blamed and there is nothing to take credit for.

Posted by: Islamic Rage Boy at February 28, 2013 05:40 PM (e8kgV)

160 So if we wake up in the morning, and the police are still giving speeding tickets to white people exclusively, could we have another sequester?

This time a sequester x10 ? I'm being serious.  First, the stimulus must be taken off the top of the budget.. yes, we're paying for another stimulus every year.. upon year.  Another sequester x10 will get us a balanced budget in a year.  Nobody will lose their jobs except for people being waaaaaaaay over paid anyway.  Federal pay should be capped at 65k for the sake of our children.  A job paying someone 65k in the private sector is ONE HELL OF A JOB.  The DMV or the EEOC wasn't meant to be an employment agency for unemployable welfare queens... which it is now.

This is what is going to happen. The articles about furious federal DC workers being furloughed with a total of 20% less salary for the year who claim they are immediately going into personal financial ruin are receiving hoots of laughter and "join the club it's your turn now".

Posted by: Elliott at February 28, 2013 05:59 PM (Nsx1s)

162 I'm not worried and we've been told there will be 30 days notice before any furloughs anyway. No notice as of 1 March... It's just a 5% hit to my agency and my office already took a 25% hit to our FY13 budget last fall in anticipation of this. We applied the cut to what we would have paid one of our contractors so we're more than covered.

And nothing bad will happen.

It does seem that the public wasn't too excited by the Sequester Crisis, nowhere near what the president and his media propagandists wanted.  May it perhaps be that the President only knows how to govern through crises (never waste one) and the public is just a little weary of them?*

*The Media arm loves them some crises too - its how they get eyeballs (if it bleeds it leads) and Washington and the Obama admin produces them some nice crises.
