Elizabeth "Fauxcahontas" Warren: Yeah, I lied When I Said I Didn't Tell Harvard I Was A High-Cheekboned American
— DrewM

She's not an honest injun.

“At some point after I was hired by them, I . . . provided that information to the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard,’’ she said in a statement issued by her campaign. “My Native American heritage is part of who I am, I’m proud of it and I have been open about it.’’

Warren’s statement is her first acknowledgment that she identified herself as Native American to the Ivy League schools. While she has said she identified herself as a minority in a legal directory, she has carefully avoided any suggestion during the last month that she took further actions to promote her purported heritage.

When the issue first surfaced last month, Warren said she only learned Harvard was claiming her as a minority when she read it in the Boston Herald.

Scott Brown is a lucky, lucky man.

The bigger issue which we should look at is the race spoils system in this country. Why is the government collecting data on people's race in this country when it's an almost meaningless concept in a multi-ethnic, multi-racial society such as ours. Almost everyone has a little of this, a little of that in their family tree (well, not Warren, she's straight up white it turns out). Why is the government interested in this? How much is enough or not enough to qualify for special status? You'd think we'd be working to move beyond the "one drop" standard yet the liberal-grievance industry seems hell bent on dragging us back there.

20 What I fail to understand is how the courts can rule that this type of racial preference is legal.  The 1964 CRA forbids it outright.

It shall be an unlawful employment practice for an employer - (1) to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual's race, color, religion, sex, or national origin;[/]

It goes on to say the same shit for a variety of things beside "employment".  But when you hire or otherwise give preferences to someone based on race you are in direct violation of the law, as well as the 14th amendment.

The last ruling on it was discrimination for college admittance based on race was illegal.

However, they fudged that by allowing "diversity" as a purpose which then just traded the word "diversity" for the words "affirmative action".

In the end, it is still discrimination based on race and it is illegal. Anyone who says any different is a liar.

78 Race is ridiculous. For you non-lawyers, there is a case called Batson where SCOTUS ruled that you cannot dismiss a potential juror on the basis of race. Prior to that, all lawyers had a number of peremptory challenges where a potential juror could be dismissed by a party for any or no reason. I had a case on appeal where the lawyers were arguing over whether one of the potential jurors was black or not.
Another story - my daughter was a brilliant student in high school. She had a classmate - a black girl - who was very well off, one parent a lawyer, one a doctor. The black kid was inundated with scholarship offers to ivy league and other top tier schools.

I think those racial checkboxes are the source of much of the racism today.  If it's so important they put it right after your address, and people are '"scientifically"' divided between discrete types, human beings will naturally use their curiosity to divine the important differences between those categories.

And then get punished for it.

One checkbox: human.

It appears that science has gone from the main supply of racism to a possible cure.  We're all from one big family in East Africa.

The Balls on this chick!

You know, I'm a follower of Clifford Gertz's view of culture, in which culture is somewhat organic, and develops based on how the individual identifies himself.

Gertz would want to strangle Warren for this because it makes absolutely no sense.  (Especially because culture was what one immersed themselves in for Gertz, by this definition Warrens culture is "Lawyer" which is synonomous with "liar, cheat, and trickster."

That being said, how did she get so close to running the shitshow that was the "Consumer Protection Thing" (or whatever?)  Does one think they (Obama and Co.) dumped her at the finish because they had already figured this out and knew it would bite the "diversity president" in the ass?

Posted by: Sir Bedemir at May 31, 2012 05:02 AM (0Ohos)

98 The purpose of the racial spoils system is to get money to your supporters -- somebody else's money -- that is, your money and mine. It is a means of wealth transfer. So long as there is a system in which other people's money can be used to buy some group's support there will be racial shenanigans of this sort.

102 How can a claim of minority status be disproven?

I am part Hispanic -- technically -- because I have Sephardic ancestors. So I should be able to claim victim minority status based on that. Who will call me a liar?

Hell, I have some portion that is Black too! Who will disprove that claim?

In her dauntless drive to lactate in the bar, Elizabeth Warren shows such resolve, such fortitude, such indomitability, and a host of other words that they use to name British warships.

Elizabeth Warren certainly was inspired by this speach by Ward Churchill's aunt, Winnie:

"We shall not flag or fail. We shall lactate on to the end. We shall lactate in France, we shall lactate on the seas and the oceans, we shall lactate with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall lactate on our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall lactate on the beaches, we shall lactate on the landing grounds, we shall lactate in the fields and in the streets, we shall lactate in the hills; we shall never surrender."

107 Yup, my daughter is 25% hispanic (yeah, I know it's an ethnicity, not race but whatever). She is also a blue eyed blond. But when she was born my hubby and I talked a long time about what to classify her as and went w// hispanic. While I think the one drop rule is asinine, I didn't want her to be at a disadvantage.

110 But minority status is also relative: Jews and Asians aren't Affirmative Action candidates. They're not part of 'diversity.' But homosexuals (if sufficiently radical) are.

The Indians put virtually every part of the majestic beasts to some utilitarian use.  They made seafood lasagna with the tender white meat, used the shells as shelter, and affixed the razor sharp claws to the tips of their arrows.

128 I've watched several episodes of the PBS show that is hosted by that vile little man, Prof. Henry Gates of "Beer Summit" fame. He takes a celebrity back through their ancestry and the whole thing is capped off at the end by telling them what their DNA test showed for percentages of racial make-up. It's just gobsmacking to hear the number of those who are horrified to hear that they have a majority amount of European bloodlines. The one I remember most was Eva Longoria, who was particularly taken aback to hear that she was majority percentage European. Her face fell into her cleavage at that news. She had been telling folks all her life that she was mostly Native American. Gates soothed her with the news that she had a little bit of African blood running through her veins. She looked.....redeemed.

131 there's lies and there's wikipedia.

Early life

Eva Jacqueline Longoria was born in Corpus Christi Texas, the youngest of four daughters born to Mexican-Americans Enrique Longoria, Jr. and Ella Eva Mireles.  She was raised Roman Catholic. The Longoria family originated in Spain and has resided in Texas since before the creation of the United States, predating the English-speaking settlers. Eva is 70% European.

Yeah, it turns out that I am genuinely 1/32 Choctaw.  Honest injun, we have the genealogy all traced out and everything.

But I've never asked for special favors because of it and it would be absurd, corrupt, and broken for me to get any.

There are two scandals here.  Fakeajawea's lies, and the fact that it should have made no difference to her if she was telling the truth.  Having a great-great-grandsquaw should mean zip when it comes to hiring and privileges.

My Klingon heritage is part of who I am, I'm proud of it, and I've been open about it.

My descent from Zeus is meaningful to me.  It's who I am.  When I sprung full grown from his forehead, that was a special moment in my life.  I'm not ashamed of it.

Some folks doubt my family lore that we're descended from Muslim were-seals.  Check out my lip whiskers and my circumcision, bitches.  Get your hate-facts off my heritage.

I'm my own grandpa.

141 Listening to these academics discuss how much blood it takes to make someone black or a Native American is exactly the same as listening to a bunch of skinheads sitting around trying to determine whether an octaroon is white enough to be a member of their little gang.  These are the same people with the same morals doing exactly the same thing --- degrees and pedigree be damned.  The only difference is that one group is more honest about it.  Warren belongs to the less honest group.
