Donate to Justice Prosser!
— Ace

National Review is sounding the alarm bells -- this is the left's first attempt to litigate the 2010 election.

It is important that conservatives nationwide make this campaign their own. What is at stake in Wisconsin is not just one piece of legislation or one bill restoring a measure of sanity to the state budgeting process. The question to be answered in Wisconsin is: Who works for whom? Do the public employees work for the citizens, or are the citizens mere cattle to be disposed of at the pleasure of the bureaucrats and their union bosses? Every arrow in the quiver — court cases, judicial elections, recall, lawsuits, lies, libels, and brute thuggery — will be thrown at this case, along with lots of money derived from the union dues that state and local governments helpfully deduct from their employees’ paychecks on the unions’ behalf. Wisconsin may seem an unlikely battleground, but a line must be drawn, and this is the place to draw it.

You can't donate to Justice Prosser, but, oh, lookie here, it turns out you can donate to two groups running ads in his favor: The Wisconsin Club for Growth and Wisconsin Manufacturers & Conmerce.

1 So, yes, donating to Prosser is important.

But more fundamentally what the heck do we do to stop this sort of thing?

We will never get very far in reforming the government when we give the left endless, illegal checks on the democratic process.

3 OK. Are any conservative groups supporting Prosser? Those are both let-us-in-on-that-GE-action Romney type things who don't need your money, and if they had it, they'd use it to fuck you.

4 ...because donating all over the country helped so many elections last year.

Do not rely on 'running ads' to get the job done.  One, and only one, thing will, and that is getting our votes to the voting place in numbers sufficient to not only outnumber the opposition, but to keep the 'margin of fraud' from having an impact.  And that means boots on the ground, not just cash on the barrelhead.

So if anyone knows who and how for this one, get that machinery into overdrive.  Otherwise, our donations will mean squat.

18 What the WI legislature should be doing is changing their Constitution such that the State Supreme Court is not an elected office and not subject to recall, except by 2/3 or 3/4 vote of the State legislature.

And since the unions have decided to play shitty, they should just make unions illegal and tell the feds they are nullifying the labor acts of the 30s.

30 I completely disagree with Darklord.

It takes two things to win elections.  Money and money.

You need money to GOTV, which I agree is the critical component of this race, but you can't win hearts and minds without some advertisements.

I sure hope Wisconsin chooses justice, but the ads against Prosser are the nastiest I've ever seen in a judicial election.  Wisconsin democrats know exactly what they are doing, and this is an ultimate referendum on justice itself.

33 Less OT than my similarly themed comment on the other post:
I hadn't seen much on the specifics, just "we're gonna win" but, one the WI recall sites has some dKos polling listed (presumably PPP) that reports the following:

recalllutherolsen.com/

----- -----

Democrats need to win three of these eight districts in order to regain a majority in the Wisconsin state Senate. As it happens, Democrats currently lead in three districts:

* Senator Dan Kapanke trails a generic Democrat 55-41
* Senator Randy Hopper trails 49-44
* Senator Luther Olsen trails 49-47

In two other districts, incumbent Republicans are under 50%, and should face competitive elections:

* Senator Rob Cowles leads 45-43
* Senator Sheila Harsdorf leads 48-44

The Republican incumbent is favored in another district, but still isn't safe:

* Senator Alberta Darling leads 52-44

Republicans are strongly favored in two deep red districts:

* Senator Mary Lazich leads 56-34
* Senator Glenn Grothman leads 60-32

43 What's going on here?  Prosser accepted public financing, which has hampered him to no end.  He has no real organization to speak of. His campaign office does not return phone calls, resulting in potential donors getting fed up and giving up.  They only printed 8000 yard signs and when people call to get one (if they can reach a live person), they are told to download a PDF file and print off a little piece of paper and make their own.   The Prosser ads are generic "experience" ads that were in the can long ago before the Walker controversy when they expected a cakewalk.  The best ad is a misleading one from Kloppenberg about Prosser's handling, or non-handling, of a Clergy/sexual abuse case.  The victim is outraged and said he would vote for Prosser, but won't go on camera and just released a statement that did not get a ton of play.  That ad has defined the race along with the angry Union sentiment.  If the GOP could have convinced the victim to cut an ad denouncing Kloppenberg and the ad, the tide would have turned, imo.  Internal polls for both candidates have the race even steven and both camps say Kloppenberg would win if the election was held today.  Third party groups favorable to Prosser are running lame ads attacking Kloppy for cases involving how far piers go out on a lake and what farmers can and can't plant on their land.  The ads are terrible...there is less than 1% of Wisconsin voters that would care one bit about those issues.  This is the single worst run statewide campaign I've ever seen.

Posted by: Greg at March 30, 2011 12:44 PM (A0Q4i)

44 The biggest problem with the Clergy abuse attack ad vs Prosser is that there is no talk radio in north, central or west Wisconsin.  Only SE WI has guys like Mark Belling and Charlie Sykes to get the word out on what the truth is.  That ad runs with no counter in the entire rest of the state.

Posted by: Greg at March 30, 2011 12:45 PM (A0Q4i)

45 So what do we need to do to get Obama to endorse Prosser's opponent?  Preferably in bracket-style competition.

Posted by: NC Ref at March 30, 2011 12:46 PM (/izg2)

46 Another problem is since Reince Preibus left for the national stage, the WI GOP has been in total disarray.

Posted by: Greg at March 30, 2011 12:49 PM (A0Q4i)

47 Greg, the problem is that Prosser doesn't want to be a politician.  Great politicians are not suitable for the bench, so honorable partisans tone down the politics of these ill advised judicial elections, usually.

In this case, it's an honorable judge vs a political machine in a highly politicized race.  You're quite right that he's completely outmatched in the game playing, but that's why he's the right guy for the job.

54 "The victim is outraged and said he would vote for Prosser, but won't go on camera and just released a statement that did not get a ton of play." So why can't they just use the statement in an ad? I've seen it and at the end the victim said that if he still lived in Wisconsin, he would vote for Prosser. Scroll that on screen, with someone reading it. Jeez, the only way I saw it was because it was emailed to me. Yeah, that's real effective - the Dems are bombarding the airwaves with negative ads and we're emailing crap to each other. Where the hell is the RNC - you'd think Priebus would have just a bit of a stake in how things turn out in his home state - or do your cojones magically fall off the second you become RNC head? I've donated - I've called them and offered to make GOTV calls from home (haven't heard back yet). I'm so damn frustated at how the RNC is sitting on its' ass over this, I could scream.

55 Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is a statewide election, isn't it?  I'm placing my bets on the voting bloc that elected a repub majority in the state house and senate.  If Wisconsons are intelligent enough to do that, then they're intelligent enough to see what's going on with the judge issue.  There's a lot of people who live outside of Madison.

Posted by: Soona at March 30, 2011 12:59 PM (4PP9V)

God, the bloggers here have asked for input from people who are, you know, actually in the state. When they report, you bitch. It doesn't look good right now. That doesn't mean it's hopeless, and we should curl into a ball and die, but what good would saying "Don't worry, we'll pull it out, Prosser's doing great" do when in fact conservatives here are properly alarmed - for the very reasons Greg states.

67 Looked at the recall olsen site. Some questions. PPP poll? Ok. Olson is the rep from my home district. Green Lake county is part of his base and is very Republican, so I kinda question that poll. No mention of the fact that 8 dums are also being threatened with recall,so any loss adds one to what dums need. The recalls that do happen won't take place until August, and they won't be against generic dums. I'm not ready to surrender yet, but if Kloppenbitch win's, turn out the lights, this state is over.

Posted by: bigred at March 30, 2011 01:33 PM (WaOfA)

68 Well, thanks for the heads-up, Donna who is not me. I'm not familiar with Greg's postings. I'm worrying my head off, but then remember I live in a lefty neighborhood in Milwaukee county so my perception certainly isn't perfect either. One thing that might work in Prosser's favor is that the Dem running for Milwaukee County Executive is a trust fund baby who has never held a real job before. His major talent appears to be getting gazillions of parking tickets (and a DUI) and not showing up in court or paying them. He also didn't pay taxes on a downtown condo and shot a firework at a neighbor who complained about the noise - a neighbor who happened to be a prominent personal injury attorney. The Dem, Abele is a real piece of work, and I will be surprised if the blacks and Hispanics are going to bestir themselves to go vote for a white limo lib in large numbers. And blacks and hispanics don't seem real distressed by the woes of pampered white teachers either - when you look at the protests here and in Madison, you're blinded by the overwhelming pallor of the crowd. So turnout might be very light in Milwaukee, and if the cons in Jefferson, Ozaukee and Waukesha turn out in force, they might cancel out the heavy moonbat turnout in Madison. The other factor is that every conservative I know has been doing a quiet slow burn for weeks about this. They don't yell and scream on the street corners like the libs do, but believe me, they are angry. And - well, this isn't scientific, but I think people are focused on the lefty anger and underestimate the rage of people on the right, because we're not the ones storming Madison.

And I would really like to walk over to those houses, ring theI doorbellS, and shake whoever answers the door until their teeth rattle, while screaming in their face "DO YOU WANT THIS STATE TO LOOK LIKE MICHIGAN? DO YOU WANT THIS CITY TO LOOK LIKE DETROIT! QUIT RUINING MY STATE, YOU %@#%^BONEHEAD!" But over the weekend, I had to pay a visit to Oak Creek and Franklin, and there were Jeff Stone and Prosser signs all over the place. Is this true???   That's kinda the vibe I was picking up on....'We should just lay down and die' kind of thing...

81 The whole time the walker debacle was occurring all I heard was that Wisconsin is a state that BO can't afford to lose.  So obviously BO and the minions have taken this message to heart and the republicans/conservatives are well, behaving like the republicans/conservatives in congress.

82 O/t:  just saw the clip on fox about the holding the oil leases, watch the clip carefully as he says "and not producing" and then look at his lips cause he stopped himself from saying "a damned thing" and corrected to "a single drop"

83 If I was just a Kos troll, I would just change my IP and go from there.   And it's interesting that Donna, who's also in WI, agreed with everything I said.

You guys have no idea just how often that Clergy/sex abuse attack ad is running.  And then often you have the standard "Prosser stands up for families" ad that runs immediately after and looks tone-deaf.    That specific ad must be addressed if Prosser wants to have a chance.

84 I think we are going to have to let them completely break it before it can be fixed. So, no Prosser doesn't get any money from me.

85 Well, greg, your words have inspired me to spend even more time on GOTV calls. I'll really be hitting the phone this weekend. If you're really on the up and up and not a concern troll, I'm sure you are happy that your posts made a fellow Wisconsinite even more motivated to contribute to Prosser's cause.

89 These union bosses and workers I believe should be rounded up and sent to San Quentin for a long stay under other unions  funding and the constitution of these United States should be sounded on their PA 24/7/24 for 40 years.
