Dennis Miller on the Daily Show
— Ace

Lot of the same stuff, but a new crack about the Duke "rape" "victim."

Thanks to Rodney.

1 I like Dennis Miller, but am always dogged by the impression that he's probably an asshole in real life. Don't know why.

Posted by: lauraw at March 28, 2007 10:32 AM (GqQcC)

2 The pimp on Rock's delivery was priceless.

Posted by: mbruce at March 28, 2007 10:34 AM (LLCm9)

3 I think he used the "falcon" gag on Pelosi earlier.  But it's still funny.

Posted by: otcconan at March 28, 2007 10:43 AM (Jt2eI)

4 True that Bruce, Ace, that joke on the accuser was great too.

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 10:44 AM (bSYRF)

5 Lot of that bit was recycled, but it was still great.

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 10:45 AM (bSYRF)

6 Alright, who gave Sinistar the colored markers?  You know he's been banned from holding those ever since the "golden bags of goodness" incident.

Posted by: Warden at March 28, 2007 10:55 AM (d/K6p)

7 Whatever are you talking about ,Warden?

Heh, I probably better take it easy with the colors before Ace gets pissy with me...

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 11:02 AM (bSYRF)

Miller was great as always, but MAN, one has to listen closely to get all the references and before you can process it, he's off on another!

I think he rocks though.

I love color too Sinistar!

Posted by: Rightwingsparkle at March 28, 2007 11:02 AM (ZLSG3)

Great, now Sinistar is sharing his crayons with RWS.

Aren't they adorable?

Posted by: Tushar D at March 28, 2007 11:05 AM (m1bmI)

10 WHEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

Look, at me, I'm COLORING!!!!!

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 11:07 AM (bSYRF)

11 Sinistar, you are worried that Ace will be pissed at you, and still you are spray-painting the comment section. Not trying to pull a WickedPinto, are you?

Posted by: Tushar D at March 28, 2007 11:11 AM (m1bmI)

12 I don't mind the coloring. It just makes your posts unreadable, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Posted by: Red at March 28, 2007 11:13 AM (24opM)

13 Heh, good point Tushar, OK, I'll behave.

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 11:13 AM (bSYRF)

14 Though I do like the white writing on black background, its nice looking.  It'll be fun during holidays, black and orange for Halloween among others.

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 11:15 AM (bSYRF)

15 If  I start seeing homemade "mushroom stamps" I'll ask ace personally to swing the ban-hammer.

Posted by: Warden at March 28, 2007 11:16 AM (d/K6p)

Well, there used to be a site, I think it was called, that was a forum where folks in the restaurant and services industries could complain about celebrities who were lousy tippers, rude, ill-behaved, etc.  And there were several entries for Miller, all negative.

Pixy needs to disable those horrid eye-piercing hard to read background color tags.

You guys are homos.

(I would have called you faggots, but then I'd have to go to rehab)

Posted by: Entropy at March 28, 2007 11:18 AM (m6c4H)

18 Entropy, we will always have someone clowning around with that. Just select and highlight the test you want to read. Becomes much more readable.

Posted by: Tushar D at March 28, 2007 11:21 AM (m1bmI)

19 You guys are homos.

Who are you calling homo, silly goose?

Couldn't resist...

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 11:31 AM (bSYRF)

20 Jon Stewart is a known faggot.

Posted by: benrand at March 28, 2007 11:35 AM (sf4Oe)

Does that sear itself into anyone elses corneas or just mine?

Posted by: Entropy at March 28, 2007 11:37 AM (m6c4H)

The only thing I hate worse then neon backgrounds is flashing.

If you make the text blink, I will murder you.

Posted by: Entropy at March 28, 2007 11:38 AM (m6c4H)

23 Don't worry, Entropy. Pixy specifically took out blinking text while designing the New Comment Thingy. You cannot do it even if you fiddle with the HTML source like Slublog or I do. Similarly, you cannot embed an image residing on some other website.

Posted by: Tushar D at March 28, 2007 11:43 AM (m1bmI)

24 Sinistar, Ace seems to have noticed your clowning. Check his latest (McCain) post.

Posted by: Tushar D at March 28, 2007 11:45 AM (m1bmI)

25 God bless Dennis Miller.

Posted by: Kensington at March 28, 2007 11:49 AM (kFwRi)

26 Yeah I saw it Tushar.

Posted by: Sinistar at March 28, 2007 12:02 PM (bSYRF)

27 I'm in sales and I'm as "alpha" as it helps to be when I'm at work.  I talk a lot of shit and generally feel good about it.  But when I'm at a restaurant or bar I become fucking Kringer.  I think it might have something to do with my years in pizza delivery and other low-status service industry jobs.  I'll never go back to that work (seriously, I'll take a man's life before I do), and I feel a kind of revulsion/pity for most people doing that work.

Somehow with me that translates into 20% tips for average service.  I don't want to be their dark spot for the day since there's enough of them without my contributing.
Sometimes I even find myself doing the take out thing just to avoid the whole service thing.

Posted by: tachyonshuggy at March 28, 2007 12:09 PM (r7mz6)

Yeah, his general "smart-alecky-ness" (like I have room to talk) gives rise to the idea that he might be a flaming asshole.  Back in his more liberal days, he could be one sarcastic SOB.

Sure, I'm amused generally by his points, but then I largely agree with them.  I'm not a huge fan of "all sarcasm, all the time".

BTW, did you know "sarcasm" comes from the Greek word sarcaso, which means "to rend flesh"?

say "thanks Cliffy"!

Thanks Dave, that piece of information will help me tremendously.

Posted by: roc ingersol at March 28, 2007 12:37 PM (m2CN7)

30 Will y'all cut that colored text crap out? The last time someone here acted up I got banned.

Posted by: PattyAnn at March 28, 2007 02:47 PM (3YtMS)

31 I got the impression Stewart's NY audience didn't appreciate Denny's shots at the Goracle. I guess it made them uncomfortable, like an inconvenient truth. I wish he could get on that show every night.

Posted by: mark c at March 28, 2007 03:37 PM (sgmtF)

32 I'm YouTube deprived at work, so I can't comment on this clip, but I could never bear Dennis Miller. Of all the people that could've crossed over to our side, it had to be that obnoxious, pseudo-intellectual prick.

Posted by: S. Weasel at March 29, 2007 03:34 AM (rasT+)

I'm surprised you feel that way, Weez. Remember that liberals like to think they're smart and cynical, so DM takes them on on their turf--it has to be disorientng for them.

Of course, we could have really got lucky and flipped Mike Farrell!

Posted by: spongeworthy at March 29, 2007 03:59 AM (uSomN)

I guess that's why I don't like him, sponge. I don't just hate liberal ideas, I also hate their whole hipper-than-thou schtick. Turns out, it's just as obnoxious in support of ideas I agree with.

I always hated the cool kids. Even when I counted as one.

Posted by: S. Weasel at March 29, 2007 05:42 AM (rasT+)

35 The neat thing about Dennis Miller is that he gets killed in almost every movie he's in. The Net, Bordello of Blood, Murder at 1600.  All movies in which Dennis Miller dies horribly.  There are probably more I can't remember.

Posted by: Bryan at March 29, 2007 06:08 AM (Ka5Jh)

The thing that I always liked about Dennis Miller is that he admits that he's a comedian, that his views are just an amusing personal take on it all and that he has no real authority to make judgements. Or, to quote directly from the man himself.

"I'm a comedian, for God's sake. Viewers shouldn't trust me. And you know what? They're hip enough to know they shouldn't trust me. I'm just doing stand-up comedy."

You get the same smugness from Bill Maher and Al Frankin, but without the sense of proportion.
