Cindy Sheehan’s Campaign HQ Heavily Damaged in Late Night Attack (genghis)
— Open Blog

From Breitbart we get this woeful Hallow’s Eve tale about an incident at Cindy Sheehan’s campaign HQ last night.

”SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Just 5 days before the election, at 3a.m. on October 30th, all of the front windows of the Cindy Sheehan for Congress campaign offices were shattered.”
“Cindy Sheehan is a candidate for Congress in California's 8th Congressional District race against incumbent Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).”

Some specifics:
” "It seems to have been a calculated intimidation tactic," said Tiffany Burns, the Cindy for Congress campaign manager. "One of our computers was stolen, but no other property was taken from our offices and no surrounding buildings were targeted. Clearly they wanted to both frighten us and to gather information." Total damage to the campaign office is currently estimated at more than $5,000.”

Only $5k? That’s play money. Hell, every time WickedPinto and me go out to a bar we try to rack up at least $10k in damages. Otherwise we consider it an evening wasted.

But something smells here. There is no way in hell that Sheehan has a chance of unseating Pelosi (Ace calls her BotoxMcGrannyRickets or something), and why have your people attack an overwhelmed underdog opponent’s office? No reason. On the other hand, if you’re said underdog lunatic opponent, what’s the best way to get back in the news cycle?

Yes, this requires some deep speculation.

3 No really, Pelosi is shaking in her boots from Sheehan.  That's why she's spending all that time campaigning.....

Pelosi only has a 30-something percent approval rating in SanFran, IIRC. Anywho, I doubt it was connected to the Pelosi campaign. Sheehan's people either did it themselves or it was 3rd party supporters of Speaker Blinky.

5 Genghis, dude, how could you besmirch The Warriors by comparing them to Pelosi staffers? The Baseball Furies or The Punks, sure, but The Warriors? Dude.

No. You're doing it wrong. All the (cast) gang members in "The Warriors" were Broadway dancers. I'm not kidding. Do I need to explain this further?

25

I can just see it now.

Some pissant white liberal pointing at a normal person and screaming "THEY DID IT! THEY BEAT OBAMA!"

"It was. . .The REPUBLICANS!"

And then all us republicans have to fight through the gangs just to find our way home, only to defend ourselves all over again.

Only this time, I don't see cyrus getting shot, I see cyrus having everyone else shot.

"The Warriors" is available on demand.

and I'm watching it.

"What do you know about Cyrus?"

"Magic."

"What do you know about cyrus?"

"He's the one and only."

Cyrus is a gang leader.

If you got comcast top, you can watch it now on demand.  "The Warriors."

And I think the "YUM YUM YUMMIE" you are talking about is "Swan"/Michael Beck.  I think he looks like a gibb.

Random bit of trivia.  Tony Danza was first picked for the role of swan, but tony passed up cuz he was a professional fighter, and he didn't wanna miss his fight.

Posted by: Wickedpinto at October 31, 2008 10:52 PM (ul7te)

33 The last one was stupid. The guy who never shot anyone and then had to shoot someone --who I think is HOT- shot someone and then like the terrified girl and he get it on with a dead guy next the them. I just said, right. it's just too hectic and radical and NO ONE could concentrate.

Posted by: Topsecretk9 at October 31, 2008 10:57 PM (V1E6L)

34

That was FUCKED UP!

Not cuz he was there, but cuz SHE WAS!

Eh, probably not...you were deep into the mescaline at the time. You seemed to be having a good time, though.

Honestly, I'll never understand how you could physically pick up a pool table and fling it over the bar, but it was a pretty impressive sight to behold.

If I can be minimized based on shit Most of you fuckers never even read, tell me why I can't say that most stupid sluts don't care?

Now if this or other threads were about fucking fat chicks, or any chicks, then that is fine, I will do what I can to correct the assumptions, but, at least the "I break bitches" thing is a resonable assumption, even if it is wrong.

I know you are an ally Top, I'm just saying, using the "break bitches" thing is complete bulshit, though I created the foundation, and it's up to me to correct the misconception.

If you got comcast top, you can watch it now on demand.  "The Warriors."

Yeah, (and I've got the dvd of "The Warriors"), but whats always pissed me off is that you can't find an original version of the movie anywhere. I.E.; the one shown in the theatres when it came out in '79. The only version available is the one where Walter Hill (the director) re-edited it with the comic book shit in between scenes. Yeah, so it's his movie and he can edit it in whatever fashion he wants to 25 years (+/-) after it was in the theatres, but why couldn't he give us the option of watching the original...what we saw back then?

In a way, he's out-Lucased Lucas by screwing around with the original film.

But it gets worse. About 12 years ago a local channel aired a version that had lots of extended scenes. The two most memorable were 1) at the beginning of the film an extended scene (well not even extended) of Cleon talking with his girlfriend on the boardwalk, discussing the big rally up in the Bronx. 2) The Cyrus speech, before he was shot. In the version I saw he rambled on for an extra couple of minutes and went off in a heavily political direction with extreme tones of revolution, "Black Power" and hard-core socialism or even communism. It was pure Malcom X. So it wasn't just about taking over "one borough at a time" for thievery.

I only saw that once and I've never seen it again. But somewhere out there is an uncut version with all the deleted scenes. I have no idea why Hill doesn't release it, but I guess he's an "artist" or something.

Related: A few months back I purchased the Sol Yurick novel the film was based on. (written in 1965) Original copies are hard to find (and I did manage to find one) but it looks like now the novel is in reprint.

The film stayed true to the novel in the sense that there was a big gang gathering, 9 delegates from each, Cyrus got shot and the Warriors had to make it back home to Coney Island. But that's where all the similarities end.

No Baseball Furies, no duel on the beach, no Lizzies and really no fights at all. Just confusion and a fuckload of paranoia. There are a couple of utterly shocking sections (they're shocking to this day, so imagine how this would've been received in 1965)

I won't spoil the ending, but it's nowhere near like what happened in the film.

You can get it at Amazon or just read the reviews. Just type in the author's name, "Sol Yurick." I'd provide a link, but the URL is way too long. And I've never been able to get TinyURL to work anyway.

47 Heh, I know that location. When working events at the Metreon (no longer, though, because the event space on the fourth floor is becoming Tavern on the Green West come January) I usually stayed at the Rodeway Inn right across the street. Fairly icky part of town but being able to point out the Sheehan Campaign HQ served to show my coworkers why I could never live in San Francisco.

50 Sheehan's people either did it themselves or it was 3rd party supporters of Speaker Blinky.

Another possibility: disgruntled staffers, like the one mentioned in that link, against whom Sheehan sought a restraining order a week or two ago.

And yet another possibility: crackheads.  I ride past that office on the way to work every day, and it's not the worst neighborhood in the city but there are numerous crackheads in the neighborhood.

I'm certain it wasn't Granny Rictus's people, though.  As arrogant as they (and she) are, their attitude is pretty much "Cindy who?"

51 No B-17's or crew were lost in this raid over San Fransicko. Target damage assessment underway at this time will determine the need to repeat the treatment. Meanwhile there are unconfirmed reports of a retaliatory raid on Pelosi's office. Mayor Twosome was reportedly unavailable at his new mistress' apartment and is withholding comment at this time, according to his spokesperson.
