Churchill Fought With Parliament to Develop the Hydrogen Bomb
— Dave In Texas

Back when England had a pair.

Before Reagan, there was Winston. A man who understood the threat.

Where is that man today?

Well, most of the real men get totally pussified while growing up. A lack of positive male role models also takes its toll on manliness. Finally the homosexualist movement wants to brand any male who acts even remotely "man-like" as a closet faggot, which just makes no sense whatsoever.

Churchill was manic-depressive, but he was a smart fellow overall. His record in both wars is actually spotty, he did many great things for England and the Allies (Like Canada, eh?) but also had many ideas & plans that would have been crimes against humanity had they been carried out.

Plus he failed to warn the Lusitania, then made a botched job of the propoganda following the sinking.

So basically, real men weren't afraid of doing the dangerous or unpopular, they knew what was needed and they did it.

Now they take a poll to make sure it's PC and A-OK. Like girlie-men.

3 Oh shit, I hate to tell you this, but Churchill's dead.  Really.  Fucking intertubes - I thought they were supposed to go faster.

5 And if in 1936 Churchill had got his way and the UK declared war
against Germany with France the result would have been a bloody
encounter in which untold numbers of people would have died -
magnitudes less than what eventually happened. But Churchill
nevertheless would have been considered a warmonger by ignorant
contemporaries and historians alike, someone who started a major
conflagoration with a country that had not yet acted aggressively and
most people had not yet understood was run by a total loon.

7 The attack was led by Lord Salisbury, the lord president of council,
who said that while the prime minister had the constitutional right to
make such decisions, ministers had the right to resign if they
disagreed.

I wonder where Lord Douchebag stood? </very_old_SNL_bit>

8 Ah, that Churchill overreacted. Schicklegruber just wanted to incorporate England into fortress Europa. What was wrong with that? It's what Brussels is doing today. And peacefully, too. Ya gotta love those fascists. So big hearted.

9 "Before Reagan, there was Winston"

What a load of crap.  Britain sucked then and it sucks now.  They still have a Queen.  They don't the right to free speech or to bear arms....   Any freedom that the ordinary British citizens have is based on condescension of the aristocrats.  It's not part of their tradition.

What is it with this blog and the romantic longing for Britain's glory days?  Don't you remember that Britainnia's "balls" were being stuffed in our throats until we grabbed our guns.

10 "The notebooks also show Churchill was determined to keep Britain out of
the looming Vietnam conflict, despite American appeals for support."

It's typical of the British in modern history....  Just like they are ditching Iraq and assin' out in Afghanistan.  Sure, they want a war on terror....  but they just want us to do all the heavy lifting, incure the casualities, and when mistakes are made to take all the blame.

People need to get over the British.

It sucked a lot less then. And frankly, given FDR, America sucked a bit MORE then, believe it or not.

Because it's had being like Atlas holding up the sky alone, really. And as far as policing the world, the Brits did it better than other Eurotrash colonialists. Turd world nations that are former Brit colonies are generally in better shape than former Frog or other colonies.

The Brits had their hads full in Malaya at the time, and Vietnam was a Frog problem, blame them. I also blame Persident Ike and John Foster Dulles for not calling in massive air strikes at Dien Bien Phu.

"Operation Castor" was actually a good French plan--lead the Viet Minh into a massive set piece battle and annilhate them. But the French lacked the airpower to do it, and Ike and Dulles sat on ours.

12 Churchill and FDR were from the age of totalitarianism....  just like Stalin and Hitler...  products of mass communication and economic manipulation.  And, evidently it worked, because people still worship Churchill's (and in most places FDR's) cult of personality today.
