Maybe blue jays because they seem to pick on songbirds a lot.

And it is only because there were many good men there that 30+(?) more people didn't die that night.

103 My next door neighbor is elderly and somewhat daft.  He put a bird feeder in a bush only 3 feet off the ground.  My cats lay under the bush and the result is that I have dead birds neatly put on my porch every day.

I asked him to please move the feeder up as the only thing he is feeding is my cats but he keeps forgetting.  I moved it and he got mad and moved it back down.

I personally intervened in the negotiations for the release of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, and through my methodical efforts, the results speak for themselves.

This victory is in no small measure the same type win that I have personally created in reorganizing the Veterans Administration.

143 This is something:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The only American solider held prisoner in Afghanistan has been freed and is back in U.S. custody after nearly five years of captivity, U.S. officials said Saturday.

The officials said the Taliban agreed to turn over Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for the release of five Afghan detainees from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The transfers happened after a week of intense negotiations mediated by the government of Qatar, which will take custody of the Afghans.

That's where my suet feeder is.  Er, was; it was stolen by raccoons.  The first time they stole it my old roommate found it in the woods.  Haven't found it the second time.

My cats don't get to roam, though; they just sit in the window two feet from the bush full of birds and drool.

Y-not, good on you for doing something different as a thread--along with the reminder about aping the tactics of the left and how petty it makes some look.

As for this prisoner exchange--if we had a CIA with any teeth, or an NSA more concerned with protecting Americans than spying on them, they'd have planted tracking devices in these terrorist sons of b*tches and we'd have us some real fun about 90 minutes after the prisoner exchange...

279 In an earlier thread somebody claimed, falsely, that 90% of UFC fights end up stalemated on the ground. Here are the actual stats of how every fight in 2013 ended: http://tinyurl.com/oudnfnz Some interesting data. Heavyweights naturally have higher KO%, 68%. Another 11% by submission, so 79% of HW fights are finished, with only 21% going to decision. The KO rates go down as the weight classes go down, but perhaps surprisingly go up with the lightest division, the flyweights. The finishing rate has gone down over time. In 2013, 50% of all UFC fights were finished, and half went to decision. This is a function of better training and UFC adding lighter weight class. Lighter weight guys have harder times knocking each other out. The flyweights being an interesting exception, perhaps cause the talent pool is quite shallow, as it is with the heavyweights. There's just a lot more average-sized dudes in the world. Which means a lot more average-sized dudes training, which means the competition is just a lot harder. It's like how you have to be much more talented to make the NBA if you are 6 feet tall than if you are 7 ft, because the competition is so much fiercer.

321 Posted by: Costanza Defense at May 31, 2014 01:07 PM (ZPrif) That would be me. As I replied to your reply (Russian nesting dolls!)- I used to like UFC quite a bit, and maybe I've been unlucky in the fights I've seen lately, but yeah- lots of grappling, not much in the KO department. But, if you know of an event that looks good coming up lemme know. I can always be convinced otherwise.

323 Also, there was talk of trading the blind sheikh for US hostages in Egypt in March 1021 (so 6 mos. prior to the Benghazi attack). One of the hostages was Ray LaHood's son. 445 Elizabeth Kübler-Ross, whose seminal work informs our best comprehension of the topic, holds that human beings go through five stages of grieving: First, there is denial; followed by anger; next, a period of bargaining; then some depression; and, finally, acceptance.

For Barack Obama, it seems, the process is somewhat inverted. When a scandal breaks in the newspapers, the president starts with acceptance, which he mixes in with a little anger -- an emotion he invariably explains "no one" is feeling more than he is. Then his upset subsides into bargaining -- that all-purpose word "if" begins this step, followed by the promise to get to the bottom of a concern that he had previously conceded was real. And, eventually, he ends up flat-out denying that there was ever a problem in the first instance. This process takes a while, allowing whatever meager investigations have been launched to move along at a snail's pace, thereby ensuring that enough time will have passed for the news cycle to have moved on and for his flacks to be able to berate his critics for living in the past. ("Dude, that was like two years ago," and all that.)

477 Illinois shelving $100M gift to Obama library

A plan to offer $100 million in tax dollars to lure Barack Obama's presidential library to Illinois is on the shelf, with lawmakers prepared to wrap up their spring session without advancing the idea.

Democrats in the president's home state pushed the proposal to compete against rival bids from Hawaii and New York. But it faced opposition from Republicans wary of an expensive and precedent-setting gift -- with no immediately identified funding source -- for a mostly private endeavor when the state faces serious financial difficulties.

T-9...........that bottled up stuff can come in damn handy, in certain circumstances.

It's like a Mk 1, Mod 0 Weapons Systems Enhancement Program.  Little goes a long way, too.

Interestingly, rage, aged like fine wine, turns into a sweetly cold affirmative driving motivator.  And, as it's been famously said:  "It is the Cold Heart That Kills."

Napoleon had a variant on that:  "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

And the benefit thereof?  An ice-cold comportment means that your reticle ain't bouncing around, annoyingly, as you begin to squeeze.

499 Hopefully, we will not give them the chance of taking any more of our men, so that Obama can turn around and trade an American for more terrorists.
The whole thing stinks, and I have mixed feelings, not least because of the things I have read about Bergdahl and his possible mixed allegiances.

517 But when we decide that the Taliban are our equals as an entity and open negotiations.

We've been "negotiating" with the Taliban, etc. since 9/12/01.  Trading 5 fattened, aging, out of the loop Gitmoids for our only POW when we're on our way out is a good deal.

In 2010 I called B after reading the first book: "21st century sniper" and told him it was poop on a stick. It was that phone call that created NSS. Glen had written tons of stuff on cardboard boxes and shipped them back to the publisher, but for myriad reasons, skyhorse jacked it up. So enter me and B, and Glen when he was available. Took me a year, with the help of a fantastic editor, John to re-do it. With Glen's input and B's oversight and me pushing everyone, it is THE definitive long rifle guide. Coffee table quality. Skyhorse exceeded all our expectations. It didn't get out the door, however, until Jan 2013. Glen was gone. I never did, and never will accept a penny for that year's work. Proceeds go to Glen's family. Not a day passes that I don't think of him.

537 It's not great policy, but with this Administration I'm surprised we got anything in return. Obama again mentioned shutting down Gitmo entirely just last week at West Point. I'm still refreshing my memory over the circumstances of his abduction. There were different theories from different points on the military spectrum. Was he lured? Was he too friendly, and thus vulnerable, with the locals? Did he straight up defect? The investigation will be interesting.

587 When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each and every time a comment is added I get four emails with the very same comment. Is there any way you're able to get rid of me from that service? Thanks! air jordans http://www.clubdistrict.com/blogs.php?mode=read&bid=29803
