Andrew Sullivan Ducks and Covers
— Ace

A few weeks ago he got into a little spat with James Taranto about his "quotes" being taken "out of context" to demonstrate inconsistency.

Well, Taranto caught him making Rove-like comments about liberals (umm, I did first, but Sullivan won't acknowledge me), and Excitable Andy is still not responding.

When someone has the goods on you, I guess, it's best to ignore it.

How about forcing Andy to confront the quotes? It's a petty victory, but a fun one. He reads The Corner, so why doesn't someone from The Corner highlight his ludicrous inconsistency on this issue?

1 Around the edges of Sullivan's demeanor and rhetoric, I'm sensing a bit of panic. Like an aging Mike Tyson, Sullivan keeps picking fights with the bigger and brighter lights of the blogosphere in his desperate bid to stay relevant and consistently losing miserably. Rather amusing in a rubbernecking sort of way, really. In fact, I think you should start an Ace of Spades betting pool for the date on which the excitable one resorts to his cherished homophobe ad hominem in response to one of Taranto's merciless skewerings. C'mon, it'd be fun!

2 I don't think Sully is going to blog much longer. Sometime in the fall he's going to give it up completely.

After a fundraiser, of course.

3 Alright, I've gone from annoyed at Sullivan, to truly pissed. He's a hack. Time to up the ante.

Sullivan delenda est.

4 The Excitable One is like the NY Times. I don't bother with either, cause they're both irrelevant.

5 I don't understand why you care about Sullivan. I never read him and don't know why people still talk about him. He flip-flops more than John Kerry at the Icecapades.

6 I've been cracking up at Taranto quoting Sullivan in every daily post... I don't actually go to Sully's blog any more (except when I'm tricked into hitting a link), so I rely on you to tell me when he finally responds.

Well, if he finally responds. Isn't it that time of year to go out on Long Island and chill for a couple months?
