Air America Losing Flagship NYC Station August 31st
— Ace

Heh, heh, heh.

They can't even manage to put up numbers that would earn them profit in the biggest liberal market in the world?

As the manager consoled Spinal Tap after they were forced to cancel their Boston appearance, "Don't worry about it; Boston's not a big college town anyway."

Air America claims they will not "go silent" in NY on that date, though.

Hey, they could always try webcasting! Seems to be working like gangbusters for Jeff Goldstein, Karol Sheinen, and me!

1 I thought Frankenmania would never end.

I ... I just don't know what to believe in anymore.

2 On a somewhat related note, Kos has sold virtually no books since its release a few backs.

4 If no one is listening you've pretty much gone silent already.

Instapundit has a correction to Drudge's initial report - he thinks Kos's sales are doing fine.

6 geoff beat me to it, but Drudge was wrong on Kos books, or if technically correct, very misleading.

It's ranked about #25 on Amazon, and IIRC, the Drudge source didn't count online.

8 Randi Rhodes is absolutely demented. It's surprising that she can function well enough to go to the grocery store...
or even breathe for that matter.

9 Yeah I saw this news a few weeks back. Air America is a failure not simply because nobody wants to listen, but because it's so expensive and nobody wants to listen. Why would they? These people say nothing new, it's simply a moonbat echo chamber. Their delivery is bitter and spiteful, their content is dull and repetative, and Rush Limbaugh is right when he says people don't want to hear themselves and their country constantly run down.

Kos' book is selling ok for the kind of book it is, none of these kinds of books do all that well.

10 They go thru stations the way Tap goes thru drummers.

Huh. You ought to listen to Mark Malloy. I think he's on in the evenings. Compared to that psychopath, Rhodes is as sober as a judge.

12 One of the biggest problems Air America has is that their potential audience is almost all on the internet. The kind of looney-toons mentality they want to attract is much more interested in venting than in passively listening. This is why a site like Mr. Open Thread does so well -- it's not so much a blog as it is a place for these nutbags to rant and rave.

Being a post-modern leftist is all about your emotions and your interpretation of events. Participation is integral to this worldview and the internet is much much better for that than radio.

13 I'm of the same mind as Neal Boorz on this one. If Air America dies, conservative talk radio is going to be the target of increasingly shrill attacks from the "Fairness Doctrine" crowd.

Yes, well either way it goes, if the Democrats get control of congress, that will be item 1 on the agenda after IMPEACH BUSH.

15 So I'll be able to pick up the Kos book at Dollar Tree for a buck pretty soon eh?
