72 Hour Ceasefire Declared in Hamas-Israel Fight
— Ace

Beginning at 8 pm am on Friday.

Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary General Ban Ki-moon of the United Nations announced early Friday that Israel and Hamas had agreed to a 72-hour humanitarian cease-fire in the Gaza conflict.

Israel will keep its troops in place on the ground during the ceasefire -- the article does not say if they will continue their tunnel-busting missions during the ceasefire.

The parties will gather in Cairo to discuss a longer-lasting ceasefire.

6 A 'Cease Fire' i) legitimizes Hamas and ii) diminishes Israel to the equal of Hamas. I would've told UN's Bun King Kum to go horsefuck.

7 Offhand, flooding the tunnels seems like it could be construed as an act of God, completely non-offensive in nature thus not covered under the ceasefire, especially since water puts out fire!

That we need to give them "hope". 92 Isn't it funny. When Hamas, an official terrorist organization according to the US government, was shooting missiles into Israel ... there was no talk of a ceasefire out of the Hussein administration. But now that Israel is actually destroying this terrorist organization's ability to implement its terrorism, John Live Shot rushes up and partners with the UN (motto: "Store Your Terrorist Missiles In Our Schools) to demand a ceasefire. When are the American people going to realize that the Democrats are a terrorist organization. That the Democrats are providing aid and comfort to the terrorists, which is a high crime. And to start taking these terrorists out? We simply cannot allow a political party in the United States to ally itself with al Queda, or Hamas, or any other terrorist organization. No matter how many votes they think such an alliance will garner them. If John Kerry isn't put on the No-Fly List, then why the fuck do we have this list in the first place?

104 90 wasn't there a Bar Jesus in the New Testament? Posted by: Soothsayer of The Righteous And Harmonious Fists (-425 days left until climate chaos) at July 31, 2014 08:24 PM (IESRt) Yes. Book of Acts. He was an antagonist of Paul. A Jesus Bar is a nourishing pre-packaged provision that will sustain you in the wilderness for 40 days.

105 I thought I remembered both "bar" and "ben" meaning "son of." Thanks. Of course, part of the joke with Simon Bar Sinister is that a "bar sinister" (actually a bend sinister) is a heraldric term--the bend sinister is the mark of difference on the coat of arms of a recognized illegitimate child. So is the prefix "Fitz" in a surname, like Fitzpatrick or Fitzgerald.

106 as in Simon Bar Sinister "Bar sinister," now, has another meaning - it is the heraldric term for the device (a diagonal stripe running from* the left) used to indicate bastardy. *I can't recall offhand if it runs from the left or to the left, though I believe the first is more likely.

110 Nobody wanted them. As time passed they became a propaganda tool. Nothing more. Posted by: teej at July 31, 2014 08:23 PM (PBVvc) In the revised leftist narrative, and I've seen this printed, it was the Israelis that pushed them out and burned their homes, rock shelters, tents, whatever. Nothing could be further from the truth. It was the invading Arab armies.... ...that got their asses handed to them.

112 Yes mitzvah by itself does mean a good deed. A bar or bat mitzvah means that a child is now an adult and now has the duty to be a good Jew.

115 I remember viewing a video that was excellent but my Google-fu skills are too weak to access anything but mainstream propoganda. Was it this one, called "The Legal Case for Israel"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub2x5UvjUs4 It was on an ONT or somefink, and I thought it quite good, despite being 45 min long.

121 You know that video about the things that all men need to know about women? The one with "Unicorn Zones"? My niece's husband posted it on his fb page. While not all of my nieces at hot, this one really is. I was so tempted to post "Are you sure she is not a Tranny?" But I know that she is not. My sister did a very good job of keeping her sane. btw, she is a nurse and just got promoted to CMDR in the USNR.

122 101 @85 exactly. That was the gist of the video I saw. I don't feel comfortable imparting what I know, as it is incomplete and I may misspeak. I really should bookmark this crap. Posted by: Browndog at July 31, 2014 08:26 PM (H+4bU) I completely understand. It has been so muddled by the leftist media, that the truth is somewhat difficult to discern. I agree with you on bookmarks, I have a habit of not doing that either. Let me see if I can point you in the right direction.

136 Browndog 1.  After WWI, the present states of Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Israel were created out of the defeated Turkish Ottoman Empire.  Jordan got about 80% of what was then called the "Palestine Mandate." 2.  On the remaining 20% of the Palestine Mandate, the UN's partition plan mandated the creation of two states: the State of Israel for Jews, and another state for Arabs, called Palestine.  About 80% of these Arabs ("fellahin") were renters, semi-nomads, and Bedouins, not property owners.  Nevertheless, Jewish people paid high prices for fellahin and absentee Arab landowner property, and the British offered new property to any fellahin who felt dispossessed. 3.  In 1948, Arabs rejected this two-state proposal and launched a war against Israel.  This is the cause of the refugee problem. About 725,000 Arabs fled the theatre of war.  Had there been no Arab aggression, no war, no overt and explicit attempt at Israel's genocide, not only would there have been no refugees ("Palestinians"), there would have been a state called Palestine in the West Bank and Gaza since 1948. 4.  Israel won in 1948, but there was no peace treaty.  This is a crucial and often forgotten fact: Arab nations were still, de jure and de facto, at war with Israel, and "Palestinian"  refugees were thus considered by international law as potential hostiles. 5.  A year later, in 1949, Israel offered to return land it acquired while defending itself in exchange for formal peace.  The Arabs refused. 6.  Israel then passed a law that allowed Arab refugees to settle in Israel provided they signed a form to renounce violence, swear allegiance to Israel, and become Israeli citizens.  Since this law was enacted, over 150,000 Arab refugees have taken advantage of it. 7.  Consequent to all this, Israel has had an enormous refugee problem of its own.  Between 1948 and 1954, about 800,000 Jews were forced to flee from the Arab states that made war on Israel.  Their property (~$2.5 billion in 1948 dollars) was confiscated.  Most of the refugees went to Israel, which accepted them. Understand: sixty years ago, nearly a million Jews lived and owned property side-by-side with Arabs in the Arab states!  Today, there are almost no Jews in Arab countries, and Arab laws prohibit Jewish tourists from even entering some of them. Where is the outrage over that?  Where are the demands for the right of *Jewish* return to property they had in Arab states? A related question: why did the Arab states not let the 725,000 "Palestinian" refugees settle in the very areas the Jews were forced to vacate by the Arabs in such large numbers?  No Arab state, with the exception of Jordan, has allowed "Palestinian" refugees to become citizens.  Why? 8.  It's sometimes asked, "What about the *children* of those 725,000 Arab refugees, and their children?  Aren't they refugees, too?" Answer: by international law, they do not have the legal status of refugees.  Only the few surviving Arabs who fled in 1948 are refugees -- and they have always been welcome to live in Israel.  All they have to do is formally renounce violence and become Israeli citizens. The Arabs who did not flee Israel in 1948 (about 170,000) now number 1.4 million.  They have 12 representatives in the Israeli parliament, are judges on Israeli courts and even on the Supreme Court, and teach as tenured professors at Israeli universities.  They have more freedom, education, and economic oportunity than any Arab population anywhere in the Arab world. 9.  In 1967, the Arab states launched yet another war against Israel (the Six Day War), and were again defeated.  As a result, Israel become the governing authority in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, Sinai, and Golan Heights.  Under Israeli rule and investment, the West Bank settlements experienced a huge increase in their standard of living, and their population tripled up to 1993. 10.  In 1993, Israel transferred authority of the West Bank to the PLO. Despite the PLO receiving more than $5.2 billion in international aid, the standard of living in the West Bank has plummeted.  Despite decades of unprecedented levels of international aid, the Palestinian Authority is now bankrupt.  Why?  Where did all those millions upon millions go? The EU, US, and other nations have POURED money into the PA -- what has it achieved?  What have the so-called "Palestinians" accomplished?  Why should anyone continue to fund them, especially in light of the electoral victory of Hamas, whose charter is soaked in Jew-hatred and explicitly dedicated to the destruction of the Israeli state? These facts and questions are all plain for the world to see. But some simply won't see.
