— Purple Avenger Turning the other cheek appears to have fallen out of favor...
...After the explosion, enraged Christians emerging from the church clashed with police and stormed a nearby mosque, prompting fights and volleys of stone throwing with Muslims - a sign of the sectarian anger that has been arising with greater frequency in Egypt...

If you want to see the fertilizer hit the air circulator, stand by for when the Christians in the south vote to secede from Sudan. About 10 days off, I think.

4 The statists (they aren't true liberals; I am on a mission to take that word back) were always in love with Islam, and not for its "peacefulness". They love the idea of unblinking submission to complete control of the individual's life (and the pogroms, never forget the pogroms) that is built into that theocratic political ideology. That the Muslims have incorporated fascist socialism into their thinking (which was easy, as it dovetails nicely with their religious texts) only made it more appealing to our lefties.
It's the dream date for a couple made in the ninth circle of hell -- I doubt they will let it go easily if at all.

Don't those Egyptian Muslim's know Obama is President? The world should of healed by now with our great leader what has gone wrong?
I'm just hoping we can get them all togather at a table so that we can work this thing out.

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
And while everyone remembers "live by the sword, die by the sword" what's overlooked is that it's one of a series of rebukes to Peter trying to impose his will on Jesus' mission on earth-in this case by protecting Him from the Romans. Why did Peter have the sword in the first place? From Luke 22 (the Last Supper)
36 He said to them, But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you dont have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one. 37 It is written: And he was numbered with the transgressors; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.
38 The disciples said, See, Lord, here are two swords.
Jesus' followers were expected to defend themselves, or at the very least take some security from the knowledge that they could.

Next the Egyptian government will use the "violence" perpetrated by Christians as an excuse to further persucute them, seizing property, closing churches, etc. This will continue until the Christian population is non-existent, as they have already done with the Jewish population.
The same thing happens anywhere muslims become the majority, and it starts as soon as they are even a sizeable minority. Leftists slobber over muslims because muslims accomplish what ineffectual leftists can only fantasize about.

Rioting is wrong. I've been a Christian since 1993. Turning the other cheek is one of the hardest commands I've ever gotten. There is a time for righteous anger (as Christ pointed out with the moneychangers).
Whether their Muslim neighbors deserve is or not, we aren't supposed to commit violence unrighteously.
Jellytoast: If you don't understand the Bible, you probably shouldn't try explaining what it means. Turning the other cheek has nothing to do with accepting punishment. It's specifically about not seeking revenge.
And I'm just as guilty as any man when it comes to violence. It's part of being an imperfect human. There's a difference between self-protection and revenge. Our egos want to get even, our minds want justice. Sometimes they're the same thing, and sometimes they aren't.

If someone were to sit down and write up a religious doctrine with the intention of it being pure evil, the result would be something damn similar to Islam.
Posted by: mpurinTexas (kicking Mexico's ass since 1836) at January 01, 2011 08:19 AM (paOeu)
You just watched 21 of your friends and neighbors get blown up and 80+ more get seriously injured, including women and children and other soft, non-military targets, as they were leaving a church. And for no other reason than that they were leaving a Christian church. I'd say that kind of anger would be righteous. I'd further say that they showed restraint in that every Mosque in the city is not a smoldering pile of rubble right now.

mpurinTexas: It's only righteous if they punish those that actually attacked them. Unless the bomb had a note attached saying "With love, from so and so down the street" then there is no righteousness in what they did. Using your standard they would have been righteous if they delivered a car bomb to the nearest mosque. I think Islam is bad, but I think randomly seeking revenge against anybody that I can get my hands on is a lot worse.

Just recently, the Egyptian government barred a Muslim who'd converted to Christianity from leaving the country.
He'd received to many death threats that he was forced to disguise himself when he went out.
Meanwhile, we let these animals build victory mosques on the graves of the thousands of Americans they slaughtered in order to "build bridges."
Funny, I don't see any "bridge building" from their side.
Fuck Muslims. They're a cancer.

with the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
forward into battle see his banners go!
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before.
2. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
on then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
one in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
but the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never 'gainst that church prevail;
we have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.
5. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
this through countless ages men and angels sing.

Jesus said that if any man "harmed these little ones," it would be better for him if a millstone were tied around his neck and he were thrown into the sea -- in other words, you don't want to know the punishment that awaits anyone who even harms the innocent.
Doesn't sound spineless to me. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a barbaric Christian Southerner.
As far as "staying out of the fight while the defenseless perish" is concerned, how the fuck can anyone defend that stance as moral??? It's the diseased moral vanity of the coward, who would rather see the innocent die than soil his own hands with blood.

We've been dealing with the evil and persecution that is Islam for centuries. It is time to be vengeful. Sorry, but I've got no patience for the goat fuckers. If it is not in your nature or belief system to act, then that is certainly your prerogative. Meanwhile, stay out of the way.

The very idea that God would instruct his followers to hold their defense while being annhilated by enemies to prove their peaceful existence among the rest of humanity is intellectually insulting and just plain stupid.
It's counter-productive in the extreme and something only a fool would fall for.

The problem with consistently turning the other cheek is that it cedes the initiative to the aggressor.
