Of course he can avoid all jailtime if he completes a stint in rehab.

I don't think this is a very important story -- wow, prosecutors and judge roll over for Al Gore's son, film at 11 -- but DB points out something interesting: Al Gore III's lawyer is Allen Stokke.

Who is Allison Stokke's dad.

2 After Lindsay Lohan got busted last week, the of course had Danny Bonaduce (sp?) on the radio as an expert. He said the success rate of rehab was somewhere around 8%. I didn't catch how soon after rehab most people start using again.

He also said that once he went drinking on the way home from being released from rehab.

8 This isn't special treatment. And that is the problem. The penalties for this sort of behavior and for repetitions are far too lenient.

Zipping around in vehicles while stoned is the equivalent of randomly shooting a gun into the air. You probably won't hit anyone by doing either.

One needs to have a lawyer who knows all the escape methods and can use them. That is the advantage of the wealthy and famous.

That doesn't mean the advantages work every time but it is the way to bet.

15 Sorry doods, the plea deal is not all that unusual, and harsher than what you would get here in Ohio.
Make your choice - you want to house these guys and make them unemployable the rest of their lives, or do you want them off drugs? The guy has to behave for a year and a half - if he doesn't he eats a felony.
Don't hate the kid because of his parents - it's akin to demanding the Bush kiddies get drafted.
Besides, you know when he was growing up he missed all the good party music because of Mommy's PMRC. He's just catching up.
